Otherwise, no Scotch is truly bad....some are just astronomically better. :D
LIAR! Try Aberlour. It's so horrible I jabbed a screwdriver in my temple to try and forget about it.

I'm quite partial to the scotches that were aged in Sherry casks, whether partially or entirely. Macallan is my absolute favorite. It's just an amazing scotch. I've had Macallan 12yr, 15yr, 18yr, 25yr, 30yr, and Gran Reserva, and I'll tell you that they're all amazing scotches. The Gran Reserva is truly their best, and it costs less than even their 25yr.

I also like Balvenie. They like to experiment with aging the whisky in different casks (port, sherry, different oaks, etc.). I prefer the sherry, obviously, but they just generally make good scotch.

My other favorite is knockando. It's the easiest scotch I've ever drank, and it's just amazingly smooth. It doesn't have the kick other scotches have, but it still has a great taste.

For the record, I think that while I can stand them, both Glenfiddich and GlenLivet are horrible. I also don't care for Glen Moray.

See now, there is not really true either. The Macallan isn't that good IMO. Its harsh, and it doesn't have a complex flavor like other Scotches. The Aberlour is very complex. Spicy to start, but ending floral.

I'll have to try some of these other types. Glenfiddich was the first Scotch I've had and it went down well for me. Had a kind of fruit smell to it. I've heard that they wrongly label it 12 years though?

I'd try some of the other but they just seem too expensive :/

"I'll have a scotch on the rocks, please. Any scotch will do, as long as it's not a blend, of course. Single malt, Glen Livet, Glen Galley, perhaps, any glen."

I haven?t tried that many, but I remember Laphroaig being memorable. Well it is rather unusual me thinks!
I lived in Scotland recently, but didn?t get around to visiting a distillery. I drove past many a signpost for a distillery though, they?re everywhere.
I walked into a liquor store in Amsterdam last week and was stunned by the range of scotches they had. A wall of scotch! Dangerous.

The Japanese seem to love a good malt. I read somewhere recently that they have bars that only sell scotch!!! Some of the bars are located in high rise office blocks and there might be 3 or 4 located in one building. In Tokyo, you?re never that far from another human being or a top up for your scotch :)

That don't confront me, long as I get my money next Friday.

One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
Hey mr bartender come here,
I want another drink and I want it now,
My baby she's gone she's been gone two nights,
I ain't seen my baby since night before last,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer.

And then I sit down,
Gettin' high, mellow, knocked out, feelin' good,
About that time I looked on the wall,
At the old clock on the wall,
'Bout that time, it was 10.30 then,
I looked down the bar at the bartender,
He said what do you want John Lee,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer.

Well my baby she's gone she been gone two nights,
I ain't seen my baby since night before last,
I wanna get drunk get her off my mind,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
And I sit there gettin' high, stoned, knocked out,
And about that time I looked on the wall,
At the old clock again,
And about that time was a quarter to two,
Last call for alcohol,
I said hey mr bartender, what do you want,

One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer,
One bourbon, one scotch and one beer

Playing as I write this with an open Grolsh on the desk.
John Lee Hooker RIP.
