So I almost got ran over by A-hole driver yesterday.

I was doing my usual 30 mile bike ride going up a climb. I see one car coming towards me and then I hear a car coming from behind. The a-hole behind could not wait to pass me until the car coming from teh other direction had passed.

I hear 'Watch out man!!' from the car behind and he clipped my handle bar with his rearview mirror. I didn't fall. A select few phrases of 'fvck you moron' and 'stupid a-hole' together with an exchange of middle fingers occured.

These were some punk kids in a beater.
 
That sucks. Unfortunately, it seems to be becoming the norm. Drivers have no patience for bicyclists or even pedestrians.

 
that sucks and you should have beat their a$$, but it is extremely annoying when bike riders are on main roads. i dont know where else to tell you to go unfortunately, but its unsafe for you and annoying for drivers...just isnt a good situation.

This wasn't a 'main' road. It's a smaller road out in the country side. Sure for those who live there it's a main road. Fairly twisty but usually safe. Most people respect the bikers out here and I try to help the drivers being out of the way and make clear signs to them when they can pass safely. Some are really cautious and are afraid of passing.
 
Unfortunately, most people I have known in my life that rode their bikes a lot have gotten banged up a time or two. I wish we had better infrastructure for bicycles.
 
I have had some punk kids reach out and slap my back or helmet when I am riding.

Get their licence plate and file a hit and run report, because that is what happened

this has nothing to do with obeying the law you idiot. you are just pissed because you ride your bike on the road and felt offended by my statement.

it is a stupid risk for anyone to take given how bad drivers are. i dont care at all if you choose to ride on the road and get squashed by a huge truck some day. that is your choice. but when you start going 10mph in a 45 on a 2 lane road and backup traffic, you need to get the hell off and go somewhere else. law or no law, if you ride on the road and dont go the speed limit or obey every single law drivers have to obey then you need to stay off or find a new hobby.
 
Be glad you didn't get run over. Bicyclist getting run over and kill by SUVs and cars happen all the time.
 
My brother almost hit a high school kid on a bike when he suddenly swerved with no warning off of the sidewalk and onto the street (main road with 40 mph limit). We missed him because we jammed hard on the brakes.
