no, i haven't tried to start it yet. i haven't begun the cleaning process yet, or draining the fluids. the guy that towed it said that if we wanted him to, he would tow it to his shop (about 20 miles away) and get it running for under $200. I'm thinking about just cleaning up the interior and having him take care of the rest.

I've heard that in general, water damage to a car is just about the worst thing to deal with, resulting in most mechanics writing the vehicle off in most cases.

However, good to know you were physically ok, and hopefully your car will be up and running again soon.

Just getting it running after being submerged in water isn't enough, the car will be a money pit OREOSpeedwagon.

Oh...he didn't specify what the vehicle was, did he?

Since you put it that way...give me the cigars! :D

I know nothing will work right, but I just need something that can get me to school and work until I can save enough to buy another one.

MichaelD: These cigars were for my friend's 18th birthday this weekend and its why we were out last night, to get them for this weekend. I was sure they were gone and it was a wasted trip, but luckily the ones in the tubes were fine. Did you expect me to be unhappy that my cigars were fine? BTW, no bus here, so I do need something to get around in ;)

The mechanic can get the car to start and run, but thinking it will be a "reliable" temporary form of transportation to school & work is gonna eat you budget slowly IMO.

You get The Super Trooper Award. I should've been more sensitive to your predicament. I also would prefer ANY car to NO car. And I have had same. Sputtering, smoking, leaking, spewing oil, headlights flashing by themselves....transmission stuck in second gear and NO reverse. That's not an exaggeration, either.

Good luck. :)

Nice work bailing out so quick. Sorry to see your car get soaked... it might be OK, but I'd guess some electical problems & smells may be pending. Nice save on the cigars as well. Go have a drink or three.
