it's been raining pretty heavily the past two days, and I was going about 45mph down a back road when I noticed there was water gushing across the road but I didn't have time to slow down. i hit the water and did a complete 180 and turned around in the opposite direction i was going, straight into a ditch that was 5-6 feet full of water.
luckily my friend (Cameron on here) was with me and when i was panicking told me what to do and that we needed to GTFO of the car immediately. somehow, though my car was nearly completely submerged, my power windows still worked and when i rolled them down water came gushing in up to my neck. somehow i managed to get out and the passenger in the back seat climbed out behind me and by the time Cameron got out, the inside of the car was filled with water and he had to dive underwater to climb out. in a matter of about 5-10 minutes, all that you could see above the water was the very tip of the back of my car.

luckily, we all made it out okay, but if we had waited another 30 seconds to get out of the car i'm pretty sure we would have all drowned. it's still hard to believe it happened, i never though something like this would happen to me...

update: the wrecker guy pulled my car out earlier this afternoon and just brought it by a few minutes ago. it's amazing how there is really no damage on the outside (one small dent on the hood), it's just ridiculously muddy on the inside. the guy said that since i put the car in park and turned it off as soon as we hit the water that he is sure that if we drain all the fluids that it will run fairly well again. this, to a poor high school student with a crappy part-time job, is great news.

everything inside is pretty much a total loss, but my TI-84 calculator may still work as it was in my backpack and doesn't appear to have any damage done to it. my iPod on the other hand, looks fine on the outside but after being underwater for a night i don't expect it to work.

Some good news though, I had picked up 2 Romeo y Julietas (one in a metal tube) and one Helix cigar (also in a tube), and the ones in the tubes are perfectly fine. there's a little mud on the outside of the tube but the cigar looks like it just left the humidor.

My sister has my CF card for my camera, so no pics right now but as soon as she gets back I will upload a few.

update2: here are a few pics i snapped earlier

:Q! Glad you're okay...that's horrible. You're probably not going to be the only person that hits that place either.

wow...did you get a truck to get the car out?

no, it's still there. the wrecker guy said there was no way to pull it out without flipping it over and he couldn't reach the bottom when he went in the water anyway. it's supposed to stop raining tomorrow so hopefully we can get it out then.

Do you even know how many Penthouse Forum letters start out with this exact phrase?

Glad you made it out OK, same thing happned to my sister a few years back.

I'm glad you're okay OREOSpeedwagon, but would you really have drowned? 😕

the car was completely full of water about 30 seconds after i rolled the window. i can't swim, and was scared i wouldn't even be able to make it out of the ditch
