Got about a foot and it's currently 2 degrees (F) outside, I'm waiting till it warms up to 12 degrees to shovel the driveway. :p But it's gotten me out of two days of classes, so I can't really complain.

It's so stupid really. The media has a field day calling these storms by names and that they are "polar vortex". Back in my day, it was just called a snow storm, and unless the power went out and there was two feet of snow, your ass was going to school/work. Now schools are being closed in my town the NIGHT OF a storm canceling school the next day.

I think just another part of the pussification of America.

You apparently didn't live on the mid-Atlantic east coast. Most municipalities aren't prepared for serious quantities of snow. Growing up in Northern Virginia we often got multiple days off due to 6 inches of snow and the resulting ice as it melt/refroze every night, and in that time my street wouldn't see a single plow until the 2nd or 3rd day.

It was -16F yesterday morning as I drove away from home, causing me to yet again wonder why I live in a tundra.

In 8 years when my kids are both out of high school, or sooner, I'm going to move somewhere nicer.

It's been fine. We got a fair amount of snow and it's pretty cold (~6F right now) but nothing serious. I've gotten to work from home the past two days so I'm actually sort of enjoying it. :p

The mega-high that is affecting California extends all the way to BC.
We are in deep doodoo in Washington as well, about half the rain/snow as a normal season.

The temps just fluctuate here dramatically. Yesterday it was easily 70 degrees, today the high is 34 degrees. No snow but it's annoying still. Yesterday I wore light clothing and today I'm wearing layers :/

The storm that was supposed to give us 6-8" only dropped 2-3" overnight. Now it's just bitterly cold. 10F with a windchill of -17.

1 degree F here currently. But there's no wind, so it's not bad at all. Yesterday it felt like it was blowing 10-20mph all day long. That stuff goes right through me.

It is depressing here, almost no snow now for a month. It is a sad state in the mountains, it needs to start dumping and soon so I can get some riding in.

We should have 10 feet of snow by now in the mountains, but we are at maybe a 3rd of that. I just wish we would get something. Some of the old timers at work are loving this lack of snow, but if some of them who cannot drive properly in it have to die on the road for me to have snow to ride my snowmobile on, I am definitely ready to accept that.

0 degrees outside right now. 8 inches of snow to shovel, which I'm furiously avoiding getting to. Nanook not happy. :colbert:

Ha, wind chill @ -16 at the moment. Nanook seriously pissed. ;)

It's -20 outside right now, -25 with the wind chill. That's actually slightly warmer than when I got up this morning. We haven't got much snow lately, which is a plus. It's actually warmer in Edmonton and Calgary right now, which almost never happens. I suppose the dopey local news will be pulling the t-shirt gag out again this week.

Nope I don't. I live in the NE. It's sad when 6 inches of snow shut down schools and cause all sorts of cancelations. I can see in mid atlantic where if it snows 1 inch everybody drives 15mph and acts like it's the first time they've seen snow.. I get that. But up here it's not acceptable. Theres a 100% chance it's going to snow big atleast 1-2 times up here a year but we still treat it like maaaaaaaybe this year we will get lucky.

It started snowing at 4p, here yesterday and my street wasn't plowed until around 10pm at night. I live in a town of 16,000 people so you'd think they could plow through pretty quick... guess they just don't have the resources..

Cold weather doesn't bother me at all, I enjoy it. Especially driving around in the epic snow storms. Lord have mercy on my oil tank though. That has been miserable.

Wow, friends I called while putting off shoveling were all right. The snow was so damn fluffy, it was a relative breeze to shovel. Nanook ecstatic!

The only fly in the ointment was that it was c-c-c-cold, which didn't bother me at all except that, even through my gloves, my hands quickly became stumps with icy stalactites.

The worst part of this is the intense discomfort once inside as they thaw. :(

Drove home last night, watched all the cars without 4w or Aw drive stuck on the road. Laughed, kept driving home...until I hit traffic because there are idiots stuck on the road...then I cried...

so, i spent the weekend in tahoe, no snow whatsoever - in the middle of winter!!! The temperature in sf right now is resembling something around september, which is our indian summer. Something is not right.

global warming!!11111!!!one one!

I see Norcal is in one of the worst droughts in decades. I'm glad I left...but we're also in a drought up here this year...following a year of far above average rainfall.
