15 over highway, 10 over on roads. once i hit 80 in my jimmy, it begins to shimmy.

although when your in WV you can go about 30 over and still be passed by other drivers continuassly!!!! and 90 in a tahoe isnt exactly safe, or easy to do!

Too fast, but then again I have a right too since I'm just a stupid, inexperienced, teenager. ;)

I drive about 5-15MPH over the limit on roads and I will drive mainly 80 on highways. Depending on the speed of the highway that can be 25 over. Of course my speed fluxulates alot with traffic, police presence, and road condition.

*knocks on wood* I have no tickets of any kind and have never been in an accident but I think my luck is running thin thats why I've been driving slowly lately and my MPG could be better. ;)

on the freeway, i drive as fast as the fastest person i can find to drive in front of me by about a 1/2 mile (bonus if they have a radar decector i can leech off of). that's usually 80-90 MPH, although if it's safe, i'll follow someone up to 95 MPH. past that, my accord is working harder than i like. in town, less than 5 over the limit, sometimes not at all. too many variables in town: kids, pets, distracted drivers, etc. i did a report on speed limits and one of the things i found is that per mile driven, you are 300% more likely to die at 35 MPH than at 85 MPH, and that's a testament to how much more dangerous it is to drive in the city (even at the speed limit) than it is to speed on the freeway.

If/when I speed, I try to keep it no more than 15mph above the limit because of the fine amount (at least in NYS).

I usually go the flow of traffic and find a leader and use them to hide behind speed traps. Otherwise, the above applies.

A couple years ago, I was stopped doing 77mph in a 55mph Long Island Expressway at midnight once. If you know the L.I.E. at all, EVERYONE does 75mph+... I was just stupid enough to be alone doing it at that time. Since it was 15mph+ over the limit, the fine was heftier... something like $125... but still not too bad considering other states I hear about.

True, 45mph is the optimum speed for fuel efficiency. Use this on local roads. :)

Here's an interesting story:

http://www.wtol.com/Global/story.asp?S=1295232

According to that, 71% of people speed. 14% READ in the car. I can't hardly change CDs when driving, I don't know how people READ A BOOK.

Here in Indiana, we have unmarked cars, so I don't speed much. Keeping up with traffic on 30 means you go 65mph. I've passed state police at 65 and not been stopped.

Last night I was driving down a road at about 57-58 (55 posted), there was a Saturn in front of me maybe 1/4 mile, and directly in front of him was a semi truck. They couldn't have been going much faster than me, because they were never pulling away. I see a state trooper do a U-turn in the middle of the road in front of me and turn his lights on. The saturn gets over, and the state trooper passes him and pulls the truck over. The speed difference of the truck and the car couldn't have been more then 1-2mph.

Moral of the story, a speeding truck will get pulled over first, because the fine is more.
