that would be a start, but names are much better. Just think do you refer to anyone as a number in real life? lol.
Plus with numbers you would still have the same problems that you would with names, where some mods get criticized for their actions and such.
One way that could be reduced is by having one PM account for all the mods, that they use to check messages. And same with email too of course. That way no mod can be harassed directly.

If a mod is being harassed because they're pissing off people, maybe they shouldn't be a moderator in the first place. The point of a moderator is to make this place semi civil, and making sure that spammers don't get through, also to prevent stupid arguments like a bunch of 10 year olds...

Not to random banning binges because they feel like it.. :roll:

Mods exist to also prevent people from acting like 10 yr olds and stop making idiotic threads all the time.

Some do not learn and have to get banned frequently.
When it is determined that they are a bigger pain than they are worth, they get the boot.

Once, I don't remember why. It was like a week or 2. Sometime, I'd like to see Anandtech try 'No Mods' week, where they just let the forums go to hell for a week, just to see what happens.
 
2 one week vacations I believe correct me if I am wrong mods

I always get banned in ATOT so I try to avoid it
