It's always great to hear about these child porn sting operations nabbing so many people. I used to think that a lot of child porn wasn't a huge deal - most of the time that I heard about it was when some 17 year old girl lied about her birthday and then came clean later. I read a great piece on the Toronto police department's child porn squad and some of the things they found. I'll spare everyone the details but it was one of the most disturbing things I've seen/read on the internet. There are some fucked up people out there.

Now, getting off to images of 5 year olds is something that is so unappealing and alien to me that it seems like it'd have to be pretty rare, yet these stings seem to keep bringing people in. I wonder how widespread it is, and what percentage of porn on the internet is child porn.

Well, there are definitely people who can get regular sex who still are into the kiddie stuff.

One example I read about in that article I mentioned in the OP was one where a couple actually had kids together so they could make porn with them. Bloody parents doing stuff to their own kids...

I don?t k now about that, I think viewing is just as wrong; I have heard of cases where these freaks deliberately buy homes within viewing distances of schools. They put that mirrored tint on their windows so you can?t see in but they can see out. Then using those windows they use telescopes and or cameras with telescopic lenses to watch and take pictures of kids while they are at school.

Would you really want your kids to be viewed by freaks like this?

Both these issues, or moral values, are societal norms. Not something reasoned from biology or human psychology.
To everyone who says these people are wired wrong, that's not necessarily true. These are people that just can't conform to social taboos.

This social taboo stemmed from the point of view of protecting society. Little innocent kids who don't know any better shouldn't get tricked/raped by elders since they would get mentally fucked up. Bad for civilization. Other societies have really different social taboos--ancient egyptians were expected to marry their siblings, how about that?

My point is, I think it's wrong to think these people are fucked in the head to begin with for simply having such a fantasy. Each and everyone has their own desires that's generally stiffened by social rules.

If an adult actually does go after a child, that should be punished. If a post pubescent girls decides to send a naked picture of herself in an effort of courtship, then it doesn't make any damn sense to label the dude a sex offender.
