I love mine. FarCry at max resolution with everything turned to very high doesn't make it sweat.

Couple threads floating around on the forums if you search for them that show some links of people making successful hardmods with conductive paint. Perhaps there would be more success stories for the pipeline unlocking if some people didn't just try the two left resistors/buttons whatever it was they were connecting. I highly doubt it is the same quad set of pipes being locked in every card.

VERY YMMV; 'claimed' success rate is almost non-existant... perhaps a better method will come out when ppl actually understand what they do to prevent it, but for now i'm not holding my breath.

Got me a Sapphire card, so I will try to "unlock" the card as soon as I get some defogger paint from the local autostore.

You do realize that even when you order things and don't pay sales tax that at the end of the year you are supposed to report that and pay taxes on it?

By not paying tax you're cheating the IRS and shirking your civic duty.

lol, yeah like i report anything i buy.

Looks like 9 biased people have voted for "Hell No", I am sure they haven't even tried the card, otherwise they would've told us what's wrong with it!

I want one, but will probably wait until the Fall when I do my next upgrade and get a PCI Express version.

What drivers are you guys using? Someone said catalyst 3.9 was the best and to avoid 4.x.

There is no sales tax on interstate commerce.

3 claimed "yes" right off the bat.. they pretty much has all been "no" in the week since... while they may be on the right track, it's obvious noone really understands how it actually works, or what those soldor points really mean.

X800Pro = $400. X800XT(PE) = $500. X800SE (8 pipes, no release date yet) = $300. Try the search function.

Hi.

Im getting the 6800Ultra, because of the new architecture and encoding benefits. I can't justify paying so much for an ATI card, based on the same technology. I will be waiting for the next gen ATI R500 series.

IMO, you have got to hand it to Nvidia for leading the way, with new technology etc. The 6800 Ultra, performs on par with the x8oo XT in most benchies. With all the new tech you get from Nvidia for the same price. Why would you buy ATI???

BTW Nvidia just cracked 17K in 3DMark03. Which means its the fastest benchmarking card in the world.

When the drivers are mature, Nvidia will be far superior in features and value for money. Does a few FPS really matter that much??

Not to me it doesn't.

I'll be trying to beat that 17k here in a month with an Ati X800XT.
Should be interesting.

I'll be using a 150W pelt on the card.
I'm not sure if I want to take the chance and volt mod the card though. It depends on how easy it looks.

My Vapochill LS comes in today (yeah!) So I'm definately going to give it a shot.
I'm currently getting 10K with an x800 Pro with no extreme cooling. I think 14K will be a no brainer, it really comes down to how much the vid card can take.

Thanks.
The DangerDen system I have can take up to 250W easily enough, so even at that kind of heat for the pelt it will still be doing well. That's the only thing that will be on it when the Vapo is installed.

I've looked at the guys benchmarks.
The score looks doable for me. We'll see. He is using liquid nitrogen on the cpu though. He's using a Cascade.

Really the biggest problem I will have is that both 3DMarks LOVE high FSB's. Something the AMD's don't do well because of PCI/AGP busses being unlocked.

It''l be fun to try even if I fail :p
