1-2 Tb EASILY. I stopped counting after 1Tb. I figure my hard drives alone count for 1/3 of my electric bill :D

That's exactly what I do with mine, plus I'm converting my VHS to DVD's and I've been doing it so much that I have to defrag my drive at least twice a week.

Darn...I'm home from college atm, was sure I/we'd break 2TB. I'm surprised at how few people have fast drives. IME the user experience is *much* smoother running on a 15krpm SCSI, and modern capcities make size less of a concern.

file server:
3x200GB 7.2k WD
120GB 7.2k IBM
18GB 15k IBM

workstation:
2x74GB 15k Seagate
120GB 7.2k IBM
40GB 5.4k Maxtor

brother's desktop:
200GB 7.2k WD
120GB 7.2k IBM
80GB 5.4k Maxtor
16GB 5.4k WD (in enclosure)

sister's desktop: 20GB 5.4k unknown ^^

father's laptop (guessing): 40GB 5.4k IBM/Hitachi

my laptop: 2x60GB 7.2k Hitachi

Well you can have all legal backups and not be aloud to share them legally. ;p I like to keep anything I might play iso'd or watch ripped. The DMCA actually has allowances for personal backup, so DVD ripping may be legal even if ripping software isn't fairing well in court...

Actually, it's Fair Use that allows backup copies of things you buy. The DMCA has trampled all over those rights. Fair Use says you can make a backup of a DVD you buy, the DMCA says you can't if it means breaking CSS.

My comment (joke really) was in regards to all those who have 1TB+ of hard drive space over just a few computers, LOL, I'm sorry, but they gotta have SOME kind of illegal material on all that drive space.
