so how loud is loud?

how loud is 45 decibels is? like, what's it sound like? i know 22 or 26, something like that is whisper... but i dont have like something else to compare it to.. im getting an SX830 and instead of mounting 2 80mm fans, it'd probably be quieter if i put 1 120mm fan... (well assuming the 80mm fans are around the 30dBa-ish)

2 24dba Fans(that's the "rating" on the 2 that come with the Antec) will be quieter than one 40db 120mm fan.

if i had 2 of those 24dba fans in the intake, would it be right to add up the dba? so it would be 48dba? i was looking at those fans at www.3dcool.com ,

i dont' remember the sound equations, but you don't add dba's... 2 24dba fans does not equal 48dba.

I will soon let you know "how loud is loud" got my FOP38 installed, expecting shipment of my antec sx830 and 4 80mm antec fans..

thats what i thought... the antec fans are 24cfm right? are there any other fans that are 80mm + that pull more air and are still a bit quiet? how much are panaflos, arent they like, almost 20 each...thats a little too much for me

2 fans of the same decible is an increase of 2-3dB...
so 2 fans @ 24dB = 26-27dB

45dB is freakin loud! its like WAAaaAaAaaAaaAAAHHH!!! But of course a bigger 120mm fan is gonna give off a lower frequency 45dBs compared to something like the fan on a FOP38, more of a loud hum then a whine, alot of the noise is created by pushing air. But still 45dB is up in those annoying limits, well i guess thats my opinion

Oh yeah theres alot great fans out there at around the same dB rating that push more air. Panaflo's aren't a bad choice there widely avaible and cheap, performance is okay, you can grab the L1A 80mm for about $5 bucks a peice. Adda and Nidec are nice too...but Papst are really great fans good luck trying to find them tho

If i were you id try to see if you could squeeze 2 92mm in front the more CFM would be nice at practicly the same dB rating.

according to the table there i was way off 10 dba is whisper, quiet conversation is 30, average office is 50
