So how long until Google releases an OS?

Hopefully in the next two years they will start to work on it. I don't see why they wouldn't - their developers are geniuses, they know how to make a good product from start to finish, and they have the money and name brand recognition.

They'll probably call it. Goos. 😉

I think they'll just concentrate on making things that make using windows less of a pain. Google Office would be a good next move.

Maybe they could make a super user-friendly distro of Linux and distribute it themselves.. call it Googix or something. I doubt they'll make a full fledged OS but who knows...

I suspect that their new stock release is a primer for their OS development. They need the money, what better way than to release more stocks. Will make them billions. However, they will have to contend with more than MS as Apple is now delving into the x86 world.

They haven't made a browser yet. Im still waiting for that.

I think a GoogleOS would be the end of the company. They make their money on advertising. Google is a media company who happens to use technology as their billboard. If the OS was a part of Google's data mining exploits or had built in banner ads or something they will do it, if they have to sell it I doubt that they'll do it. But who knows, maybe they'll consider it a way of furthering their brand which will increase the traffic to Google's search engine.
