So how does this work?

My school has informed us that they reserve the right to search anything within a 300 Yd radius extending from the school 's property. There are houses that are within that distance. They are saying that they have the right to come in while I'm eating dinner and search my room? How did they even get the 300Yd thing?


Sounds like BS to me. What about you?

I'd have to call BS on that one too. They are probably trying to scare kids that park just off the grounds or something. The school would have no legal right to search property outside of their "border".

Yeah, they're full of crap, just trying to scare you. I could think of a hundred ways my HS needlessly infringed on students because they just didn't deserve the freedom of walking through a hallway without carrying a goddamn pass, sitting in a library talking quietly, etc.
