you take a hero, get the relic, then have the hero put it in the temple... just select hero right click on relic, right click on temple

lighting bolt things... dunno, i think you only get one, but i'm not sure :p

i actually think it's very good. it's different enough to be a seperate game, but similar enough to have the same gameplay. i am currently looking forward to finding out what units u get in the last age.
i think i am going to buy it :D

Just downloading it now.
Age of Empires 2 was my favourite RTS, so I'm expecting good things :)

I didn''t like it much. Nice graphics and such, but the gameplay is lacking. It's just another RTS game with no real distinction. There are few units and things advance too quickly. I mainly play skirmish's, and I was in the 4th age in less than 30 minutes (along with the computer) with little confrontation. I liked Empire Earth because of the number of units available. Land, water, air units, that game had it all. AOM just seems to lack content.

Well i played through the tutorial and then I got to a mission where I had to defend a harbor and suddenly an overwhelming sense of boredom assaulted me. It felt like the same thing I'd done a thousand other times in a thousand other RTS games.

Hell, when a peasant is born they even make the 'whisper' "HUH" sound as they come out. Plus the buildings look the same, they get resources in the exact same way, and it just felt like AOE3 to me. I'm sure it's a good game, but the demo sure as hell didn't impress me that much.

To me War3 was something a little different. I love that game, but this is just AOE with the ocassional spell.

doing the same thing over and over again just like in other RTS games?? whats warcraft3 then, when I playd it I was mostly so pleased because they didnt change the gameplay from warcraft3, same thing with a little mix of starcraft gameplay. All RTS games offer the same gameplay for the most part.

Except that war3 centered heavily on the hero unit. HEAVILY. That's why it was not just another lame ass RTS game like the rest (starcraft included).

that was the "enhanced" bit in the gameplay so it would have something over warcraft3 (a good enhancement), the difference in age of mithology is the god concept, in all the old games gods didnt matter much.

but what can I say, I wont get the game untill tomorrow;)

Exactly. I was on the Beta and stopped playing after a little bit because it was basically the same with a little better graphics. But still most of the things I found annoying were in there.

Basically the same? It's hardly the same...same type of game? Yes. The upgrading is totally different (and stupid IMO)...why get rid of all the different civs basically? I think they totally shafted themselves on this one.

I got the full thing today

I like it a lot. The godpowers and mythological creatures are cool.

So far I agree it does seem a bit slower but maybe because I've been playing so much WC3
