So how do I develop an accent?

I'm kind of curious since the only accent I have is a Eastern US accent and that's kind of boring. I think it may be cool to speak with a slightly southern accent or a European accent. How does one go about this?

Brain damage. The more brain damage there is, the less your ability to speak proper American. Get a shotgun lobotomy if you want a New Zealand accent.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you need a life, not an accent.

I had a prof who's kids went to a British school their first several years. Then they moved to Alabama. According to him the combination English accent/southern drawl is the most unholy combination ever unleashed upon human hearing.

My wife's heritage is mostly German and she has a set of grandparents that spoke it as their first language. Having lived with her for about a year I find myself using phlegm on Hs; for example what is now whhhat. So, just room with a foreigner, you'll probably pick it up.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone not want to be themselves so badly.
Do you believe in reincarnation?
It may just be easier to start over.

guess you have to born this way. I think it's much easier if you're a kid and leave in a place like London, you will pick up the British's accent; if you're a grown ass adult, it will be much harder to pickup any accent compare to a kid.

I had a professor that was both of those, plus Australian. It was the strangest thing to listen to - she would combine phrases from multiple countries into one, making for some crazy confusion.

You'll need to study linguistics, specifically phonology, and then spend several years doing research and trial and error tests to create a new accent.

Oh... you meant you want to plagiarize an already existing accent. Nevermind then.
