So, how do I bring up this topic with my parents?

I mean unless it's against your religion or something, most parents realize that dating is part of socialization. Do you guys eat dinner together as a family? If so, just bring it up then. Say something like "hey I've got a date on saturday with xx. I was planning on doing xx, and returning at xx could I borrow the car?"
I wouldn't follow that advice exactly. Allow me to demonstrate where xx=Amanda.

"Hey, I've got a date on Saturday with Amanda. I was planning on doing Amanda and returning at Amanda. Could I borrow the car?"

Maybe they will be relieved when you tell/ask them. You are almost 18 right? Don't worry, we were all 17 once, including your Mom and Dad. It's time. Go for it.

Just take the car and go. Tell them you are out doing LSD and heroine.

He's going to do LSD then have sex with a woman that is a hero!? Talk about a good night!

😉

i am a parent.

tell them the truth. they were 17 once, and wanted to date... i am sure they will understand how you feel.

tell them that, out or respect for them, you want to be open and honest. tell them that they are really good parents and it is now time for them to trust you and trust themselves in the job they did raising you. tell them you will do the right thing and act respectfully to them, the dates and youself at all times.

use your own words.

good luck.

It's good to start the convo with a question to observe their stances... for examples..

"You guys ready for some grand kids?"
