Back when I used to watch The Screen Savers (haven't watched much since Kate left), they mentioned Anadtech.com all the time. I went there originally for the hardware reviews -- didn't take long to figure out where the discussions were! :)

Was lookin to build my own computer and my friend referred me to the Hot Deals forum. While building my comp i hung around the GH and CPU/OC forums and finally worked my way over to OT...

I honestly don't remember.

I know one of my first posts was trying to sell some crap, and I was looking for a 400mhz P2 for my old Compaq machine. I can't for the life of me remember how or where I found the link for the site. I am leaning towards seeing the link at SharkyExtreme as I used to read that site sometimes... but I don't know for sure.

Another possibility is seeing the link in an AOL Chat Room... as I used to be on AOL. Dunno.

I'm pretty sure I found it on Google, or some search. I found AT and FW at the same time looking for hot deals, but I don't remember which one first.

Built a new computer, got access to the net, decided to search for places that might help me make my computer better, but I found this place instead, and after about 6 months on the site, I joined the forums, never had so much pleasure from one site before :)

I was selling something on another board, and someone pointed me here as another good FS/FT forum.

Then I found the Off Topic forum and have wasted countless hours ever since!! ;)

I've felt Tom's has always been more of a biased, unprofessional site compared to AT. I've recently even seen some links of the guy rant off. Even though I too agree with what TH's reviews a lot of the time, I still prefer AT because this site offers a more balanced review. Really, there is no comparison in my mind. But whenever i'm looking to build a new computer, i won't say that Anandtech alone is enough for me, i will go to TH, and other sites, but i will definitely start here at AT, and i only use AT's forum.

how did i hear of them? when i was an AMD hater (last dealt with them with the K5 chip - which we all know was unstable), one of my more intelligent EE friends told me about something called an "athlon," and how this proc will change the computing world as we know it. anyways, 2 years later here i am on my palomino viewing benchmarks how my 1.28ghz smokes Intel P4 1.8's hehee.

I liked videogames so I went to gamefaqs.com for walkthroughs and such. Then I joined the gamefaqs forums, and a while ago someone on the PC section of the boards recommended sharkyextreme.com for cool comp reviews and such. I loved the site, so I signed up for the message boards there. Then people recommended anandtech.com as another source for cool tech stuff, so I went to it, loved it, and joined the boards here.

I was studying for a final (like 10pm) when one of my friends walks to the computer to check a website. I asked him what he was doing and he said there is a website that tells you how to find the best deals. I was like Uh?? Needless to say now I check Hot deals religiously :)

Actually was referred to the FS/FT forum by my cousin when I was buying a vid card 2 years back. Haven't spent much time here in the last half a year or so due to some real life time constraints, but there's my story. :)

I think I originally found out about AT last fall through arstechnica. I didn't start using the forums until late feb. this year though.
