I have no interest in watching Fins games (or the AFC East in general), but Fitz has put up strong numbers this season. Unless something weird is going on (such as Fitzmagic only in garbage time), it didn't make sense to hand the reins off to Tua in the heat of a playoff push. This has nothing to do with who the long-term solution is, but whether the Dolphins are trying to qualify for the playoffs and perhaps even win a game.

According to ESPN.com, Fitz has a top-11 QBR and a respectable 93 QB rating so far. Sure, he can fall off the wagon at any point but he's given them good production across his starts. Tua had 2 strong starts, and 2 poor games before getting injured. It seems like both guys are decent enough this season, but HC Flores should pick whoever gives them the best chance of winning.

Fitzpatrick wasn't really performing above what he has always done in his career. He threw two picks against the Jets but because the Jets are so pathetic, they were still shutout.

He was Mr. Interception against New England and Seattle. They were riding a mere two game winning streak when he was swapped out.

So while he was on a high note, there was no guarantee that his usual trends would not show up again against better competition.

He would have had to face a Rams team after the bye. Fitzpatrick's tendencies are such that you cannot expect him to reliably be a game manager more than two weeks in a row.

As for Fitz, let's not get too carried away. The Fins' goal this season is to make the playoffs (best case scenario, by winning the division). If he's playing above expectations, you ride him until the first regression. I don't think handing off to a rookie is the right time for a change, although so far it's worked out for them in the standings. And having two adequate options (in case of injury) is obviously better than having just one. And if the Fins' plan all along was to switch to Tua after about 6 games holding a clipboard, then I'm okay with that.

I agree about Fitz not being capable of winning consistently with Miami... my point was that he would need a team that could carry him!

He's Harvard's Rex Grossman. A proto-Jameis.

Interceptions come part and parcel with him and there's nary a moment that the feeling of terror that an INT is coming ever fully leaves your mind. Fitzpatrick going three games in a row without an INT is a rarity in his career.

He's a pump-and-dump QB. Don't get too caught up in the highs.

Dilfer was pure anemia. But Tony Banks was actually even worse than Dilfer.

My buddy, who is a lifelong Cowboys fan, wants them to lose all their remaining games and draft a QB prospect. He doesn't want Jerry to pay Dak Prescott $40M per year, on average. The irony of this season is that Dak's value arguably went up after his season-ending injury.

Agreed. While they are at it, let eliminate tie games. If a game is tied after OT, let say do a dance off (each team picks out its best dancer from the players/coaches) and let the best team win. The refs/officials will be the judges with option for the stadium fans/TV watchers to participate.

This shit is so stupid. The Ravens should have just fucking had to forfeit and they should have moved on with it. Changing up all these games is a hassle for the other teams that have NOTHING to do with it.
