** The Dawn Of Disposable Printers?

What if the next time your printer ran out of ink, you just threw
the whole thing in the trash? It would probably make you feel
better, and it might be the economically smart (if ecologically
ignorant) thing to do.

Take, for instance, the Apollo P2200 color inkjet printer. One
black- and one color-ink cartridge costs $56.94 at OfficeMax.com.
Or you can just buy a whole new printer, which comes complete
with both cartridges, for $49.99.

It's not just Apollo. Hewlett-Packard, Lexmark, and Canon all
have printers that retail for under $50, though theirs tend to
come with only the color cartridge. Take into account various
store sales and manufacturer rebates, and in many cases, it
really is cheaper to buy a new printer than to refill the ink.

"I've never heard of [people doing] that," says the manager of
the OfficeMax in Westbury, New York. "But customers do complain
about the price of printer cartridges." She says a major
disadvantage to the plan is that penny-pinching purchasers get
what they pay for. "The quality of the printer is not good." -

the rebate form i got from Apollo.com expired APRIL 30.
oh...nevermind they have another one with newer expiration...duhh

anyone know if that staples rebate tracking site works at all? I sent my stuff in about a month ago & the site still says waiting for paperwork. Gonna call & check, but was just wondering. thanks.

Did anyone get the shaft on the USB cables? My bundle came with one for the scanner and that was it. I called Staples and they said that it doesn't come with two, but on the box it clearly states that two will be included.
They're sending me a $10.00 cert. for my troubles.
Looks like I get 25.00 back for the deal.

Wow, i think i'll give them a call too. If it only comes with one and it clearly states 2 on the outside then that's false advertising.

I had one USB cable loosely lying on top of the two inner boxes, evident once I opened the large box. I haven't opened the other boxes inside yet.

The white box had one cable laying loose on top. That's the one for the printer since their isn't one in it's box. The scanner has one in it's own box. BTW, both units work fine and I especially like the small size of the scanner as opposed to my other bulky Visioneer USB.

I just stopped home for lunch and to get these rebates sent off so if someone could answer me a quick question. On the big box what do you send in, the bar code printed in blue on the box itself or the label stuck on with a bar code and model number etc ?

are these machines any good? i know it's free or even paided 🙂, but I really dont want to wait for the rebates if the products are shoddy.

My box only had the UPC code printed on the box, no sticker on it. Although it did have the UPC on 2 sides of the box.
