OP, welcome to 2006.

uberman, FYI-- between Buy-It-Now with "Immediate Payment Required" and Second Chance Offers, the majority of your selling woes have been addressed by now. Very rarely are you unable to sell an item that had multiple bids.

Eh, no they weren't. Proportionally Wii's were selling better, but they were no way in hell selling "for significantly higher" than ps3's were ... they never were.

I'd rather sell a Wii for US$750 than a PS3 for US$750. :p

I suppose, but I have made lots of money on ebay and have saved tons on things like car audio equipment. Until there is a comparable alternative I will continue to use ebay. The same goes with paypal. I haven't really had any problems with paypal either.

I have been a member of ebay since 1999 btw.

I got burned in 2000. I payed $170.00 for computer parts. They were brand new in the box and I paid for shipping and insurance. The seller shipped them USPS and decided not to pay the insurance money. The parts arrived in a box that had been drop kicked, crushed and parts destroyed. I contacted the seller who then told me he didn't buy insurance so tough. EBAY offerred me the option that I could take him to court. I lost all.

A friend of mine recently bought some car parts from EBAY. The guy was paid almost $200.00. My friend never recieved anything and the seller would say things like "there in the mail." After six months my friend received two-thirds of his money back from EBAY, but he paid for this by using all EBAY services, Pay-Pal, etc.. He even got the cops to go to the guy's house across the country and cite him. All this was done outside of EBAY.

I still buy from EBAY, but less than one item per year and nothing over $50.00. That's just my experience. I had a fun hobby selling in the 90's.

Use a credit card through Paypal. That way, worst case scenario you do a chargeback.

I have to agree with most of the people here.
OP is late, the lust for these things died when it actually came out.
And it doesnt matter how many games they come out with later, Sony will never see sales like opening day again. They've already peaked.
Now we wait for PS4 and hope they can do better.

(Actually, they could do better if they somehow came out with a MUCH cheaper system that included EVERYTHING and three GOOD games. But that probably wont happen.)

it's calmed down for the most part. I'm still reselling ps3's for $100 profit per system, but it's not worth the effort anymore.

Looks like it's even cooled down in Japan.

wow even in japan it isnt so hot.

boxes on shelf doesnt mean there's anything in the boxes ;)

most of my local stores have the PS3 boxes out, but no systems for sale.

No, but receptacles full of purchase slips and signs showing the Wii sold out but the PS3 still in stock does mean something.

I just came from my local BB and the had about 5 20gb PS3s. I asked the cashier how long they have been there and she said about 1 1/2 weeks. I guess 500 bucks for a mediocre at best system is too much. I am having a blast with my Wii tho!

There's a few PS3s around my area, but no Wiis. $600 is just too much for a console that doesn't have any good games. I will buy PS3 once it gets < 400 and has 3+ great games.

What really gets my goat about the POS3 is that it is not fully backwards compatible with PS1 nor PS2 games! WTF? One of the worlds most popular games (Final Fantasy VII) is not fully compatible! Wii is fully backward compatible with GC plus you can even play Genesis and even Turbographics 16 games on it, not to mention 1000s of the older Nintendo games for a very reasonable price. And SD memory for the Wii is dirt cheap (if you dont buy Nintendo brand).

Wow, how come DS sold so much now? What new change to that system that got people to pick them up?

There are a zillion GBA owners out there, all of which wanted a DS for Christmas. And the price is reasonable.

They'll drop the price to $99 and they'll sell another 10 million.

Imagine how the Wii will sell as they drop the price to $199, $149, $99. I bet they could make a profit even at $99.

All they have to do is keep a stream of excellent games coming, we'll see how they do.

DS has been selling like crazy in Japan for about a year now. The Japanese like handhelds, gimmicky/innovative ways to play games, and Japanese made products. DS satisfies all 3 requirements.

Saw over 10 PS3s stashed at a Wal-Mart just last week. Doubt they've moved since then. Meanwhile, went to Toys'r'Us and saw some Wiis, got taunted by empty boxes... Would love to see the look on the faces of people who couldn't wait a month to save a few paychecks.

Oh ok yeah I was wondering cause I was going to camp for the PS3 and sell it when it first came out but I wasn't going to wait more than 12 hours. But the Wii I waited 7 hours for and was 4th in line and kept it due to how fun it was. Oh and now they have (3) 20GBs and (2) 60GBs

Yah, my PS3 should be here Monday. I only bought it so that I can have both a Bluray and HD-DVD players in my collection.
