So has the PS3 craze calmed down now?

There have been (2) Playstation 3's at my local walmart now for the past 3 days and no one has bought them. It is a 20GB and there is also a 60GB. There are no Wii's though. So I was wondering has the craze finally died

It calmed down a long time ago. Right before Christmas Wiis were selling for significantly higher than PS3s.

As soon as the PS3 came out, the "craze" trickled down really fast. I mean who in their right mind is paying $600 for a system with no great launch titles? The Wii is simply cheaper, more available, and apparently a lot more fun.

Certainly it was sold. EBAY got its money. But this is why I no longer sell on EBAY.

You're sharp. I'll never forget when I was selling Palm Pilots with modems. They were trendy and EBAY got their money. I had one out of five serious bidders. Each one was relisted 5 times, I paid for each relisting. EBAY is out of control.

Pretty much every store around here has them in stock right now, at least they did when I was out and about running some errands. The Wii on the other hand, that's a different story. Folks at BB / CC / Gamestop etc answer the phone with "thank you for calling <store name>, no, we don't have any Wii's, what can I do for you?".

My guess is the PS3's will sell quickly again once newer titles are available, but right now it's a terrible value proposition, especially when you can get an xbox360 for $300, or a Wii for $250.

Shawn, it appears you're new to this. Your profile says member since 04/20/2003. I don't know if this is true or not. I sold on EBAY before that date and EBAY was good in the late 1990's, but EBAY did whatever they could to distance themselves from the transactions.

EBAY claimed no responsibility for anything. However, they did offer you the advice to take that person to court and sue the buyer for any lost money. EBAY always got their payment.

BTW, I was a regular here for 3 yrs in the late 1990's. I was in the Hot Deals forums.

I just had an auction end in which the buyer didn't pay and I filed a dispute. Ebay refunded me the Final Value Fee after 8 days.

I suppose, but I have made lots of money on ebay and have saved tons on things like car audio equipment. Until there is a comparable alternative I will continue to use ebay. The same goes with paypal. I haven't really had any problems with paypal either.

I got burned in 2000. I payed $170.00 for computer parts. They were brand new in the box and I paid for shipping and insurance. The seller shipped them USPS and decided not to pay the insurance money. The parts arrived in a box that had been drop kicked, crushed and parts destroyed. I contacted the seller who then told me he didn't buy insurance so tough. EBAY offerred me the option that I could take him to court. I lost all.

A friend of mine recently bought some car parts from EBAY. The guy was paid almost $200.00. My friend never recieved anything and the seller would say things like "there in the mail." After six months my friend received two-thirds of his money back from EBAY, but he paid for this by using all EBAY services, Pay-Pal, etc.. He even got the cops to go to the guy's house across the country and cite him. All this was done outside of EBAY.

I still buy from EBAY, but less than one item per year and nothing over $50.00. That's just my experience. I had a fun hobby selling in the 90's.
