number one, lets keep the flamebait away from this thread and just talk about the movie eh?

Jules, I am not gay, and i enjoyed the movie. i must admit i was a little repulsed by the lovescenes...i think mainly because of the roughness of it, not because it was two guys...

Usually those biases don't relate to things the people can't control, like orientation or skin color. If you don't like Star Trek fans, that's just a personal preference. If you don't like Mexicans, that's bigotry.
Still applies to my statement.
But your statement implies his bias is okay. Rather than get over his prejudice, you advise him to hide it. That subtext is disturbing.

Ditto. Though the thing Ennis did to his wife was kind of funny.

Yep, I tell him to hide it here. ATOT is full of some of the most hypocritcal and judgemental people I've seen outside of a KKK rally.

Edit: To stay on topic, I will not be seeing this movie. As a general rule, I don't like love stories.

Thanks, that's the sort of response I was looking for in this thread. Not the ignorant hateful responses like some of those above.

haha yeh i coudln't help but chuckle at that scene 🙂

Mehh, it is partly genetic, partly choice.

Just because genetically we are predisposed to be attracted to girl who mature around the age of 15-16 because that is the "best" time for a girl to have a child, doesn't mean that as a society we choose to do that. We do the opposite actually because of the way our society is structured, girls aren't mature enough usually to handle that type of situation till later in life. As time passes on that "attraction" is lessened because of choice. But warranted, some people, genetically, have more of an attraction toward certain things. 😉

I want to watch the movie. But not in the theatre. Too much hype and too expensive nowadays to watch. Netflix or Hollywood Video FTW. Jake Gyllenhaal = Donny Darko 😉

Against my better judgement, I watched Brokeback Mountain tonight.

As far as the movie itself, it's probably the best movie I've ever watched in my life.

As far as the content in the movie.... I *sooo* wish I had never even thought about watching it. :'(

What I expected: Gay cowboys eating pudding.

What I got: Gay cowboys eating beans.

Seriously though the movie was good, the only part that got me was that I saw no atraction between the main characters until the clothes started coming off. Made me question why the events happened the way they did. Probably won't go see it again.

Edit: As a note, I had no real interest in seeing the movie by myself. Not much of a movie person anymore (the last film I saw in theatres before this one was Be Cool). My GF and another friend decided that they wanted to see it and that I was coming along. So I went.

I will pass after reading what CrackRabbit wrote...if I want to see the crap I can walk down Davie Street and see it live

Seriously, there's more hetero stuff than homo, and it's all very brief.

I wouldn't spend a dime on anything gay-themed. Then all we get is more of it.

I agree. And all you people flaming this dude should just go f-yourselves. You make it seem like if you don't want to watch movies with gay cowboys in it your a fascist racist homophobe. Maybe we don't like it or it makes us feel uncomfortable to watch it in movies. And now that it seems like almost every movie has some gay thing in it we don't want to support it with our hard earned cash.

We are not roaming the streets with billboards saying "god hates gays" we just don?t want to watch the damn movie. It reminds me of that Southpark episode the museum of tolerance. Just because you have to tolerate something doesn't mean you have to like it.

QFT, well sorta, i just dont see why we need a whole film devoted to gay dudes. Why can't we just have normal movies with the random gay couple?

It's a really good movie. There are a few things I would have preferred not to have seen, but aside from that, I found it to be an awesome movie. Good storyline and good cinematography (sp?).

I highly recommend you watch it.

Why can't we have a movie with homosexual main characters and the random heterosexual?

Because its not an acurate portrayal of our world. And Brokeback Mtn was meant to be realistc fiction. If the movie is purley fictional, i guess you could do that, but only predominatley gays would watch it, so it wouldnt be very profitable...

Question since when is ANY fiction a 100% accurate portrayal of the "real" world?
What you are saying makes no sense.

Yeah, but Predominatley Gay with a few hetero's would be MAJORLY inaccurate, like 25% acurate. Fvck that ******.
