i wonder how long i can handle windows locking up on me. clean install would do the trick, but it has not pissed me off enough yet.

A clean install won't do me much good. I'm using second-hand hardware that I've had for over 3 years. I just need to put together a new computer.

This strictly depends on how you use your computer.

I always have only 1 computer that I use to send & receive any e-mail. All my other systems are not allowed e-mail and all systems use Zone-Alarm & Windows Anti-Spyware program. All systems run 24/7. I don't go to ever website on the planet and this seems to keep me mostly above water. I had systems that ran up to 3 years without reinstall until I switched from dialup to DSL just recently.
