So, for Oblivion, HDR or AA?

I tried HDR in farcry and I wasnt all that impressed with it, but in oblivion it looks amazing. with AF turned up and HDR on, i have to say I didnt miss the AA all that much. Of course, that was on my 7900GT before it died on me, so I'll probably end up using both on my X1800XT when it gets here tomorrow. Might have to reduce my settings to 2xAA/4xAF in order to make it playable though.

This was simple for me, HDR looks great but I was getting the odd crash here and there, however with bloom and AA its rock stable all day,I'll take stability over visual looks any day.

*Is using an X1800XT, so runs Oblivion in 1280x960 with 6xFSAA and 16xHQAF.*

Note: Not temporal or adaptive antialising, just standard 6x.

I absolutely love HDR  and specially the way it looks in Oblivion.

I play at 1280x1024 and barely notice the jaggies anyway.

I got bored with this game... maybe I will start another character and try again.

Anyway, here is what AA looks like in Oblivion. Text

My biggest problem with Oblivion is not the graphics... I am a hardcore shooter fan and just wish I had a shotgun or machine gun when dealing with the guards who always seem to want to arrest me, lol. 😀

I tried HDR on my friend's machine and both of us doesn't like HDR and prefer Bloom/AA. Didn't like the overly bright environments.

I'll take HDR+AA thank you. God bless ATI (for a GPU capable of HDR+AA) and Chuck (for his patch to enable HDR+AA in Oblivion).

While I haven't been a big HDR fan in the past, I think it looks wonderful in Oblivion. Very well done.

There are some good comparison shots HDR vs Bloom here.
