HDR looks great, except the super glowing faces of people. The 360 has HDR and AA, but the res and draw distance is poorer.

Right now I have HDR enabled. I tried AA+Bloom, but HDR seems a lot brighter, and I dont notice the jaggies much in this game.

In photo composition, high contrast images generally look best. Translates well into gaming as well; HDR really adds color and depth. I'll take HDR over AA+Bloom.

The game looks better in HDR in my AMD rig but it had caused freezes, especially outdoor. I now have my 7800gtx set @ Bloom and have not had a glitch since. That said, Bloom or AA is the only choice I get.

IMO the HDR effects in Ayleid ruins, where sunlight or strong glow from the ceiling crystals come in, are about the best looking real-world game visuals I've ever seen. I really only notice jaggies in towns where you have strongly geometric models and lots of straight lines on buildings. I'm sticking with HDR for now.

HDR isn't terribly noticeable or pretty unless you are Oblivion or some dungeons. The jaggies bug me then too. It does make the lava look really pretty though.

At 1920x1200, I can't really tell between AA on or off esp. since I can only use 2xAAA. I've switched over to HDR now. It looks better, to me.

Where in the Nvidia drivers do you select HDR (I've got a 7800gt sli setup)?

Actually after playing with HDR for a while, I've decided I can no longer go back to bloom+AA. HDR just simply makes the game look more dynamic.

You have to enable HDR from the video options menu in the game.

You get your performance issues fixed? :(

No, I'm still chugging along at ~30 fps outdoors at 1024x768. I added the high res textures, though, so at least it looks better and the performance didn't change. I hope it's not due to thermal throttling, because it reaches 89C under load. But I still did not update to cat 6.3 (too busy playing...), so maybe that will improve it somewhat.

For you. HDR in Oblivion and HDR in HL2:LC are two completely different animals. It looks 3x better in Oblivion compared to HL2:LC. And yes, the performance hit is drastic, but believe me.... it's worth it.

Been playing for over a week now with Bloom + 4xAA, and i'd never even consider the HDR option. First, the 4xAA doesn't even hurt performance for me (compared to AA off) while HDR really seems to kill performance. Also, there seems to be a "bug", if you can call it that, where the bloom effect is greatly enchanted by turning AA on, and looks very close to HDR. I actually find that HDR looks way too bright and overdone in dungeons.

OP- Change it to a poll type of question. I wanted to see what the percentages are. My guess is HDR but who knows?

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6147028/p-2.html

check the Xbox 360 versus High-Spec PC

just put the move over the image to see PC screenshot. Look closely to Ground and you will see XBOX 360 HDR with AA sunlight looks better... but PC screenshot has much better textures and draw distance. So if the developer put the damn HDR with AA feature or ATI some how enable it or some finds how to turn it on :! it would be awesome ;)

HDR for me. I tried AA+Bloom and it's quite horrible (for me that is :p).

This game has absolutely beautiful HDR implementation. Hopefully other gaming studios can learn from this!
