I'm really stupid. I made an order on Newegg this morning and I was in a hurry and didn't realize that I had an old address in my account information. The address was the college I went to last year (3.5 hour drive that I can not make during the week due to work).

So what can I do? Is it possible to call up Fed Ex in the morning with the tracking number and try to straighten it out with them? Or will that be hopeless and I have to work it out with the school? I have a friend there that can pick it up for me, but can they sign off on it for me if I call the school?

I imagine this has happened before, can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

You might try calling up NewEgg and see if they can change it. I once ordered something from Outpost and they somehow shipped it to the wrong address... an address I'm still wondering how they got since I hadn't used that address in years and never used it to order from anyone before. I called them up and then they changed the shipping address while it was in transit.

I think Newegg Customer Service will assist you. I remember it happening to a guy from the forums and he got it straight by calling newegg.

Wow, didn't think newegg could do anything about it at this point. I'll call them up first thing in the morning. Thanks a lot.

Newegg website:

Can I request that FedEx hold my package(s)? Can I have a package re-routed?
NewEgg.com will no longer give FedEx consent to hold packages for customers to pick-up at their local FedEx facilities due to fraud concerns. We humbly apologize for any inconvenience this precautionary measure may cause but we are simply trying to ensure the safety of our customer's purchases. We previously allowed patrons to do so but due to prevailing attempts to commit fraudulent activity this option has been revoked and is no longer offered. Similarly NewEgg.com will not request that a package be re-routed to another location once in transit to the shipping address requested on the original order.

Newegg website:

Refused or non-deliverable shipment returned back to Newegg.com. What happens now?
If the shipment is "returned to shipper", Newegg.com will receive the packages back and then credit the customer in full, including all items paid for that returns with those refused boxes. If not all items are refused then only the items received back will be refunded.

I almost made the exact same error when ordering a PCI TV card, but was able to cancel it a few minutes after I clicked the submit button. I'd contact NewEgg, and if they can't do anything, wait it out.

So I suppose the thing to do is call Newegg, but they'll probably follow policy and say no. Then I'll call Fed Ex, I doubt they can do anything. Then call the school to make sure they refuse the package, get reimbursed by newegg and re-order it at that time. Sound like the right thing?

Sweet, I called Newegg and they're going to contact FedEx to re-route the shipment. I think they're doing this because it's being re-routed to the billing address, so there's practically no chance of fraud in this scenerio. Thanks for the advice everyone.
