so far seems like a senseless murder, In Mass.

Maybe we are starting to see the signs of falling towards the Behavioral Sink.

Many [female rats] were unable to carry pregnancy to full term or to survive delivery of their litters if they did. An even greater number, after successfully giving birth, fell short in their maternal functions. Among the males the behavior disturbances ranged from sexual deviation to cannibalism and from frenetic overactivity to a pathological withdrawal from which individuals would emerge to eat, drink and move about only when other members of the community were asleep. The social organization of the animals showed equal disruption. [...]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_sink

Initially the population grew rapidly, doubling every 55 days. The population reached 620 by day 315, after which the population growth dropped markedly. The last surviving birth was on day 600. This period between day 315 and day 600 saw a breakdown in social structure and in normal social behavior. Among the aberrations in behavior were the following: expulsion of young before weaning was complete, wounding of young, inability of dominant males to maintain the defense of their territory and females, aggressive behavior of females, passivity of non-dominant males with increased attacks on each other which were not defended against. After day 600 the social breakdown continued and the population declined toward extinction. During this period females ceased to reproduce. Their male counterparts withdrew completely, never engaging in courtship or fighting. They ate, drank, slept, and groomed themselves – all solitary pursuits. Sleek, healthy coats and an absence of scars characterized these males. They were dubbed “the beautiful ones”.

That is cool, I will read the whole thing.

I am sure it will come out that this kid had issues and I bet parenting was one of them, or rather lack thereof.

I wasnt trolling, nor was I politics baiting. All I said was knowing what I do about Mass etc. etc.

That state has done plenty of weird things even with Republicans in charge. Thats not partisan its just a state full of whackjobs.

The fact so many of you ASSUMED it was political says way more about your thought processes than mine.

I posted it here cuz this is Politics and NEWS. We're supposed to put that shit here but too many fuckwads keep forgetting and use OT, then act surprised when the Mods are forced to move their thread.

Question is, how was he not covered in blood when he went to the theater?

Eagle Keepers jacket theory makes sense. Its also possible he found a place to clean off then changed clothes at home. I'm not sure he went immediately to the theater.

Why'd you leave this out?

"Making the leap from mouse to man, however, was not so simple. “This is where it gets controversial,” Dr. Edmund Ramsden of the University of Exeter and the London School of Economics said, describing how other scientists tried to replicate Calhoun’s results in human populations. He cited psychologist Jonathan Freedman's experiment, where he recruited high school and university students to carry out a series of experiments that measured the effects of density on behavior. He measured their stress, discomfort, aggression, competitiveness and general unpleasantness. When he declared to have found no appreciative negative effects in 1975, the tide began to turn on Calhoun’s utopia. Freedman’s work, Ramsden noted, suggested that density was no longer a primary explanatory variable for society’s ruin. A distinction was drawn between animals and humans. “Rats may suffer from crowding; human beings can cope...Calhoun’s research was seen not only as questionable, but also as dangerous.”[12]"

I doubt that he would walk from the school with the bloody clothes on/visible.
He discarded the shirt and went T-shirt/jacket either home or the movie.

I would think that he would have got some blood on pants; so went home to change first.

And such would rule out insanity - he knew at the time what he did and tried to cover it up as well as establish an alibi.

Having been at the school for less than a week; more than likely had no knowledge of the security system of cameras.

No motive yet, not that you need one for a conviction. But I'd really like to know why this happened.

Knowing what I do about Mass. they will probably start banning box cutters and scissors and sharp pencils now. And it wont reduce school assaults at all.

Then you don't know MA, not sure why so many people say so many stupid things in this forum.

Looks like planned rape/murder. Updates to the story:

Danvers, Mass., 14-year-old accused of raping — and murdering — high school teacher Colleen Ritzer

Timeline of the murder of Colleen Ritzer at Danvers High School

Police affidavit describes chilling note left by Philip Chism after death of Danvers High teacher Colleen Ritzer

Given that the mask/gloves were previously brought to school; he had intentions of doing something.

The reference to Tennessee may have been the trigger that snapped him from rape to murder

Glad to see he's being tried as an adult for the murder. I really think that by the time students are in high school - heck, even middle school - for violent crimes, they should be treated as adults. They certainly should know better by that age. And things like the "knockout" game - need much greater consequences. Admits to rape and murder? Lock him away for life.

Heard on NPR some state (?) on Friday was considering making knockout game a gang crime with punishment up to 25 years. Sounds fine with me.

These young violent criminals turn into future murderers (in the case of the kid in this thread he didn't need to become an adult first). They must be taken out of society and kept away from the civilized people for as long as possible once they have shown a propensity to reckless violence. It represents a fundamental failing in their humanity and they must be locked up for a long time.

The difference is rats can't reason out why nor slow down their birth rates as needed. Humans have this thing called a brain. Well not everyone uses it equally, but it does allow for some individuals to have logical decision making skills.
