So does John Madden really talk to all the people he says he does?

It's like every other thing he says remarks about how he talked to so and so last night about some key aspect of the game that just happened. So does he really spend the entire week before a game talking with every player / coach / ref / person in the stands about every possible situation that could take place at the game?

probably. These guys are usually at the stadium the entire day of the game, and sometimes that weekend. Gives them plenty of time to schmooze with the players and coaches.

And yeah, he has nothing better to do any other day. Besides, I'm sure he repeats about 85% of it.

Hey, look, that guy's got mud on his jersey!

See, the way you make mud is first you take dirt, and then you add water, and that makes mud..

Matt Millen?

I honestly think a sock puppet would be a better commentator than John Madden.

Except John Madden as forgotten more about football while eating a turducken than the rest of us put together ever knew.

Yep, while he can be painfully obvious at times, he knows more than most of these ESPN and blogger-type fakes that spew shit out of their mouths 24/7.

Well, he needs to be doing SOMETHING in that bigazz bus he travels around in.

I thought that bus was his "rascal" scooter, since his ass is too big 'n lazy to fit in anything else.

The most profound thing happened when MNF got a new crew and moved to ESPN; I actually missed John Madden. Yeah, his "insights" often aren't that great, but these days he manages to talk about the game and, at least a few times a quarter, breaks things down in a way that's useful. At this point, I would rather listen to Madden and Michaels than just of the other announcing muppets out there.

Sad, I know.

"Now this next play they're either gonna run the ball or pass the ball."

"Now that is a sandwich. You take all that and put it between two pieces of bread."

"When you talk about a Mike Shanahan offense, you're usually talking about an offense."

"Well when you're playing good football it's good football, and if you don't have good football then you're not really playing good football."

"The team that scores more points than the other team usually wins."

"When a guy runs he goes faster."

"When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to."

"A fumble is a fumble when he fumbles, and that my friend was a fumble!"

"To get more yards, it's best to move the ball from the line of scrimmage down the field."

"If the quarterback throws the ball in the endzone and it is caught, that's gonna be a touchdown."

"Not only do you get a first down, but you get a whole new set of downs!"

"Now here's a guy that, when he puts his glasses on, he can see better."

Agreed.. they are terrible. It is like listening to a bunch of 14 year olds getting drunk for the first time and arguing.
