I'm moving to connecticut and i gotta get a softa and maybe a dinner table. Does ikea have the least expensive furniture or are there cheaper alternatives?

no.

ikea styuff is built cheaply. but they do have some nice stuff but those nicer furniture are also more pricey.

i have the jerker desk <insert your jerker joke here> . it rocks

IKEA is cheap. You can also try craigslist if you don't mind used furniture. You can get some great deals.

Yard sales baby! yeah! 😛

Hmm - for new furniture, we ended up getting ours from all over the place. We shopped around quite a bit.

It's the cheapest furniture with good design, and reasonable quality materials. You could probably find cheaper, but it would be total crap with ugly design. Also, ikea does have a range of prices for any type of item, ranging from very cheap to moderate.

that's actually a good idea... hopefully i don't get a sofa that's been peed on 😛

ikea has some cheap stuff... not all of it is cheap.

overall, the quality of the furniture is pretty cheap though.

If they have them there -- i'd check out value city furniture (http://www.vcf.com/) -- for the most part they mark down expensive items to be less expensive (but not cheap) -- however i have seen some really good, really cheap furniture there before.

i'll second the BIG LOTS recomendation as well.

ikea has a big selection, but I don't think everything is as cheap as people think. I went last time for a bookcase, but ended up getting one from Staples since it was cheaper there.

For an apartment, IKEA is hard to beat. But the furniture is disposable.. hardly anything is made of real wood, and the items that are made of real wood are not that cheap.

Bob's isn't too bad pricewise, reminds me of Value City when I lived in Delaware and PA. Where at in CT are you moving?
