IKEA is cheap. You can also try craigslist if you don't mind used furniture. You can get some great deals.

Yard sales baby! yeah! :p

Hmm - for new furniture, we ended up getting ours from all over the place. We shopped around quite a bit.

It's the cheapest furniture with good design, and reasonable quality materials. You could probably find cheaper, but it would be total crap with ugly design. Also, ikea does have a range of prices for any type of item, ranging from very cheap to moderate.

ikea has some cheap stuff... not all of it is cheap.

overall, the quality of the furniture is pretty cheap though.

If they have them there -- i'd check out value city furniture (http://www.vcf.com/) -- for the most part they mark down expensive items to be less expensive (but not cheap) -- however i have seen some really good, really cheap furniture there before.

i'll second the BIG LOTS recomendation as well.

ikea has a big selection, but I don't think everything is as cheap as people think. I went last time for a bookcase, but ended up getting one from Staples since it was cheaper there.

The cool thing about ikea is the selection. They got massive ammounts of stuff. And, you can order online

Yup, they even have 'Big Lots Furniture' stores.

cool, i guess i'll check it out. thanks.

Jeez, why not just use milk crates for the dinner table and a few old tyres for the sofa.

For an apartment, IKEA is hard to beat. But the furniture is disposable.. hardly anything is made of real wood, and the items that are made of real wood are not that cheap.

Target.com has lots of cool, hip furniture. Don't tell me you're gonna go metro with designer furniture now.

Bob's isn't too bad pricewise, reminds me of Value City when I lived in Delaware and PA. Where at in CT are you moving?

I love Ikea. Maybe it's just because the jerker is such a great desk. And it's so fun to say.
