So do cops ignore the law when it can bring the city revenue?

Was thinking about this the other day. So basically there is a rave at least once every month here in LA and obviously 90% of the people who go are doing ecstacy. When you go there there are signs flashing "stay hydrated" etc. I doubt the lapd don't know since they dedicate hundreds of officers just for the event. Before I went I stopped by a gas station and he told me he sells 2 thousand dollars worth of cigarettes in 1 day with raves. Also parking and admission rates are crazy high. Yet there are no arrests for having drugs here at all. I was always under the impression that ecstacy is one of the super bad drugs that cops always crack down on.

Q. So do cops ignore the law when it can bring the city revenue?

Which law are they ignoring?

cops only care about their "performance evaluations". generating money for the city is not why they write tickets for.

and what law are they breaking? the only thing they can do is stings and undercovers. all you are looking at is the uniformed units

It would be extremely difficult and time consuming for them to try to crack down on it in large gatherings like that. This is actually one of the few times they are actually doing good by not arresting for petty crimes.

If they could nail the large dealers then maybe it'd be useful, but thats nearly impossible.

And can kill you the first time you use it. It's actually one of the nastiest.

That is extremely unlikely. About the same odds as Tylenol killing you the first time you take it.

It does cause long term damage to the brain though.

Tylenol couldn't kill you first time taking it unless you ODed or have some kind of allergic reaction. X has killed MANY kids on their first try. Not hard to find a story about it.

An OD with tylenol is 8 extra-strength pills. Not exactly a tall order.

That's because they were dumb and OD'd.

This

It's common sense. There's no way the few police officers could do anything. They'd have to called in the riot squad to even try to do anything.

The distribution and use of ecstacy in front of their faces? This is not only with adults but with 14, 15 year old a well .
I've never been to rave. But I find it difficult to believe that if they saw someone selling X that they would let it go.

They wouldn't let it go.

However, they wouldn't find anyone selling it unless they were ridiculously lucky or the dealer ridiculously stupid.

The OP stated that they were ignoring laws and stated that they were ignoring "The distribution and use of ecstacy in front of their faces?".

Its not a few. It is pretty much a riot squad at raves. There were at least 3-4 horseback cops, ~10 patrol cars, and ~15 motorcycle cops when I went to EDC this summer.
