What's up with everyone bumping my old threads today?

BTW I just bought my first jar since about a year ago.

Man it's so much better than JIF

All brands taste the same, so whatever's cheapest. Which usually means the store brand, be it Kroger or IGA or whatever.

Best stuff to make peanut butter fudge with. It's got that good syrup taste to it.

I love Peter Pan, it tastes the best. Of course I don't know that I've eaten any brand that I didn't like. As for being hesitant to buy it again, I think it'd be possibly safer than the others, as they're going to be making sure something like that doesn't happen again (I don't know if you noticed but they were off the shelves for a very long time, which I would imagine probably was not good for business).

Its the same peanut butter walmart sells.
Learned that from the recall.
Both peter pan and walmart brand had the same lot numbers.

While it wouldn't surprise me that Wal-Mart had them make it, they do not taste the same. The Wal-Mart here actually pulled pretty much every brand of peanut butter off the shelf for probably a good week or two, then finally put a little bit of a couple of brands (I think one was Jif) back on. Now its all back. I couldn't believe how long it took before Peter Pan was back on the shelves though.

It might be the area you live in.

The affected jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter have a product code located on the lid of the jar that begins with the number "2111." Both the Peter Pan and Great Value brands are manufactured in a single facility in Georgia by ConAgra. Great Value peanut butter made by other manufacturers is not affected.

its because it says "great value" and people know its walmart brand so it sucks. Event hough its the same item sitting on the shelf with a name brand on it and %40 more cost.

Look at the ingredient list and compare it to the other. If they have ALL the same Ing. and also in the SAME order then they are probable 99% the same. If they do not match up then there is a difference. A lot of stuff made for wal-mart is usually lower quality.

Wal-mart storebrand also had the recall, made in the same plant. I had a family size, had eaten half of it (heya cheap food) but was horribly sick the last few weeks could never figure out why... then I found out through a friend about the recall when I was idly complaining about how horrid I felt. I talked to a doctor who was amazed I wasn't in a hospital with how much I ate, and my jar tested positive. Felt better after about a week...
I stayed away for a few weeks, but next month I was back to buying family size crunchy. Hey PB&J is a good, cheap meal.

The Great Value/Wal-Mart brand PB I've tasted lately is MUCH drier and harder to spread than JIF or Peter Pan brands. It's clear to me that it is different.
