I used pricegrabber to look up prices and they're all within a $10 difference. I purchased a pre-configured Acer laptop from Tigerdirect which only comes with 512MB of RAM. I want to sell the 512, and buy two sticks of 1GB DDR2 RAM for a total of 2GB.

I know they're all reputable companies, but I'm having trouble narrowing it down to one. Should I just go with the cheapest?

this is sorta offtopic but i'll sell you a gig of samsung pc2 5300 sodimm that has been used for about 4 days for ~60 bucks

I'd rather buy new. I prefer to buy memory in exact pairs as in the same config, same manufacturer anyway and searching for a specific model to pair up with this one isn't something I want to do. But thanks for the offer.

otherwise i'd probably buy either the crucial or corsair, pny seems to be a budget brand and i don't really know anything about transcend

Yeah I get that feeling too that PNY is a lower end brand. Anybody else?

transcend is generally very high quality. they use samsung chips. I am running transcend DDR2 ram on my media server and I also have 2 4gb 150x SD cards made by them. Never had any trouble.
