Your mo....

Grew the balls to quit a shit side job I had that I pussy-quit last Fall, but I didn't have the balls to explicitly quit -- now that bridge is burned and I have no regrets. Asshole was taking advantage of my "yes, man" pussy-ness while underpaying me.

Started reading again and finished 2 dozen books. Started a website, YouTube channel, and monetized both. Money still sucks, but it's kinda growing. Stopped wasting money on useless shit like clothes I don't wear -- used to be a huge expenditure. And I neutered some shitty relationships that weren't working.

Huh. Not that bad a year after all.

Started finishing my basement, I'm almost done up to the point that I had planed for which is framing done, and dricore subfloor done + lot of misc stuff like electrical etc. Though honestly I figured a couple months not a year but missjudged given it was my first time doing any kind of work like that. I started around February. It was on and off though. A day here and there. Even though I get lot of time off with my job, by the time I account for everything else around the house that needs to be done like cleaning, laundry, shoveling etc it gives me only a few solid days per week. Though, I did do more than I had planed for. The server room is practically done and I was not really planing to touch that outside of maybe framing the partition walls.

I'm almost done this phase though. Next phase is spray foam and drywall but I will probably wait a few years for that as I'll want to save up. Same with server room hvac. I may even do the hvac this summer and do the foam next year.

Before:

After: (don't mind the newspapers, was just done painting)

UPS battery rack:

Cable management ducts:

Another side project will be redoing all the cabling. It's a mess behind there.

Still have odds and ends to tie but overall almost done the work I had planed for the rough in phase. This year will be time to start looking at getting back into some coding projects. I had given up my game server before I started on the basement so I'm thinking of starting another project like that.

The basement itself is pretty much done to the point I wanted. Fully framed and dricore is all installed except for a small corner I left to the last minute as it's where I've been cutting lumber and stuff. I start night shifts tomorrow, after that I'll probably finish off that section and cleanup and reorganize everything. It's a huge mess down there, tools everywhere etc... will be nice to get everything back in order.

I enjoyed reading comics again for the first time since grade school when I was attacked by a dog.
I read a novel for the first time since I started college. All those books in college made me severely burnt out & altogether turned off reading in my leisure time.

I think that's some good progress. Am looking to increase that in the next year.

Bought a car that was on "the list", my list of cars I want to own at some point in my life (realistic ones).
Finished all my exams for my professional qualification.

That's about it.

Not a whole lot. Bought a house, furnished said house, traded in the Rogue and got a Grand Cherokee.

I stimulated the fuck out of the economy basically

I forgot, I really did one damn thing: got my concealed carry license. Found out I'm a pretty good shot, too - didn't expect that.

1. Switched positions at work, relocated & +15% pay bump
2. Completed two half marathons
3. Dropped 35 pounds weighing from last new years to now

There are a number of other things, but needless to say, 2013 was probably the best year of my life thus far. 2014 is aiming to be a touch better.

I quit a good job to go to grad school.

Only thing I miss about the job is the income (and a few coworkers). Which means overall I'm much happier now :)

Not too shabby.

Survived the first year of marriage. Had our first kid. Bought my first house. Got promoted. Switched to a better team at work. Took my wife's car (an upgrade) after getting her a car. Finished the entire X-Files series

Only on AT would a guy talk about his finished basement being almost done, and then show a picture of a room with bare studs and an awesome server rack. Well played, sir.

Biggest accomplishment this year was paying off my college loans. Today was my first day of being 100% debt free :awe:

Congrats! I've been lucky since I haven't had to take out any loans. Paying those off has to feel good.
