Neither?

I find both coupes and sedans to be less interesting than most two seaters (I'm assuming we're not considering cars like Miatas and S2000's as "coupes"), and less practical or useful than most hatches and wagons.

i considered getting a cayman (like a used 981 cayman S) originally while there are still non turbo one. but i just felt like it'd get irritating to have that small a car as much as it'd obviously be fun .

i don't carry more than 2 people THAT often, but its often enough that not having rear seats at all would be a very "dammit, you had to buy a 2 seater.... ". so then i thought 2+2, but at that point might as well get a full on sedan since 2+2s seem to have very compromised design when they share a platform with a sedan.

oh well , someday i'll be rich and just have actual parking spaces and multiple cars

Why not both? There is a market for 4 door vehicles that have coupe like styling (ex: Mercedes Benz CLS, BMW 4/6 series Gran Coupe, Audi A/S/RS7, VW CC). Sure back seats are compromised, but they're very comfortable compared to a traditional 2 door coupe.

I've had both, and like both. Sedans for practicality, and coupes for styling. In a coupe, it's nice to be able to reject people rides since you can seat one other person comfortably :D

I love our CLS550. It is so much better than my E550 Coupe. Honestly, I kind of wish I had gotten another CLS550.

Prefer coupes. I'm tall and like the wider doors. I also try to park well away from other cars so getting in and out isn't usually an issue.

I've bought two sedans in a row. Single never married no kids and just didn't want to give up the extra utility if a sedan. Even being single sedans have so much more utility. Being able to fit friends, more stuff. Sure they don't look as good but I'll give up the looks for more utility. Plus I won't have to buy a new car if my situation ever changes.

The answer, as always is :

It depends.

I totally agree with this...

if the car is used for utility at all... anything resembling a daily driver I would never get a coupe. This is assuming you aren't a hermit and have friends, a significant, some sort of family, or a pet. A sedan is the way to go

if it is a weekend warrior; something bought "just for fun" I say coupe all the way.

Meh, as long as you have a second car it's a non-issue. We had a CR-Z and WRX hatch for 3 years. It's fine until you start a family. The little Honda swallowed a lot of stuff!

I have a family and friends and I just bought a coupe as my daily driver. My wife has a sedan so we don't really need two sedans.

Honestly, I was looking at something with a little more utility like an X5 but 99% of the time it's just me in the car driving to and from work so why not get a coupe?

yeah this was one thing i was thinking. like i'm single now, but who knows. and i plan to keep my next car ~5 ish years so it'd be awful if suddenly i needed more doors a year from now.

I think maybe the "sexy coupe" feeling wears after a bit, and in my case the carsare the same platform so you aren't sacrificing any performance.

also zero cool is it true you were the guy who hacked 1500 computer systems in a single day?
