So close to being done... (only 1 final left)

I have to get a 6-8 page research paper (worth 25% of my grade) done by the end of the day tomorrow (he didnt specify a time he just said i could turn it in wednesday without it being late, so im just gonna come by around 4:00)
It was actually due today, I told him i needed more time cuz i had a lot of other finals (which are now done)

But... you see, i havent started yet. Its for my Bioethics class. My topic is going to be "On what conditions should people with mental health problems be forced to turn themselves in"

The problem is I need to find research articles!! And I'm horribly unmotivated, and I keep checking this forum and other ones.

Sometimes I'll tell myself ill start on something, but ill stay up all night fooling around, and end up getting it done the next day anyway.

I'm trying to decide whether I should go to bed in a couple horus (when ill be tired)
and get up and start writing it,
or whether I should start it now, incase it takes longer than expected.

Ironically ill need to use a computer to do it, so theres no getting away from the internet, my #1 temptation

I hate my self.

Hmmm I could never finish research papers in 2 days. Finding that information and then creating the bibilograph takes too long.

Well in that case here's some encouragement: I researched and wrote a paper on Global warming at around 2am when the paper was due the next day, and I got an A on it, in a class where most people scored quite a bit lower consistently. You can do it if you focus!

I'm done with my finals and I'll hopefully, God willing, never have to deal with Shakespeare in an analytical manner again!

Research papers at the last second are impossible. Especially if you get distracted easily.

Good luck finding everything you need, synthesizing it well, and keeping your focus solid throughout your paper.

Woo hoo! I'm with you man. I'm writing my very very very last Final paper due tomorrow by 6:45pm.

I could always write a crappy paper and get a B, but I tried hard in the class and I like the professor so I'm really going for the A-. Only problem is I need to write one hell of a good paper in order to do that.

At least mines not a research paper though...

There is no way that someone could do a 100 page paper in a day, unless they took some mediciation to help them arbitrarily focus better than normal (think illegal use of ritialin). Even then I find it hard to concieve. Good luck to whomever that is, though!

lots of comments about research papers taking longer than the time i have... im gettin worried, lol, especially since i realize my last research paper took AWHILE to complete.

alright, heres the plan, I am going to block these forums, and logout right now. And I'm not coming back on until its done.

I wrote a 6 or 7 page comparative research paper on an abstract literary theory and how it relates to a short story. I got it done in 3 hrs, and it was very well written compared to most of the other papers that I had previously wrote for the class. It's simple to write a research paper if you break everything donw and can actually focus for a couple hours.

Spend an hour reading through your sources, with a document open that you are copying and pasting pertinent quotes into, perhaps with short one to two sentence interpretations along with them.

Spend the second hour figuring out how they relate to each other, and start to write your essay out using the quotes that you have previously selected and your short points that you wrote down along with them. This can be as careless as necessary, as long as you get the meat of the paper done.

Spend the final hour polishing the essay so that one idea transitions into another throughout your paragraphs, and dmaking sure that you eliminate redundancy between paragraphs that is likely to creep up given the hasty writing you've just done. Make sure that you have a very solid conclusion that fully wraps up all of your points and ideas and puts a concrete and fully backed argument into the reader's mind. After that you're good to go.

I have my last final (of 2) tonight at 5:30. I've got most of the info down, but I need to go over Circular 230 a bit more (Accounting major in grad school). Unfortunately, the professor was VERY vague on what we might be tested on, so I have to memorize 5 pages of notes from a guest lecturer from Deloitte, and possibly another 2 pages worth of the appendix. Arrg.

Got done today around noon.

I stayed up all night last night, so right now im absolutely dead. its amazing im still awake. I started working at 2, and only took 1 break for food (and i helped my dad shovel the driveway too)

That paper absolutely sucked having to write it. it wasnt any easier than i figured, thats for sure, lol
