So close!! 2700mhz with my A64 3000+

I can get it prime95 stable for only 1 hour....Then I get a rounding error.

I have the memory settings at cas 2 in this setting but even cas 2.5 makes no difference as this definitely appears to be a vcore issue....NOT heat!!! I upped vcore more to 1.63-1/64v and it passed 4 hours before I halted it to try other ideas....

Any ideas???

Can anybody tell me if the 1.41 or 1.51 bios opens up manual vid setting to include 1.55-1.7v in .025v increments..I only see 1.55v in 1.37 and with board undervolting only get me to 1.47...so I need % to change vcore and they are a bit goofy..

I see 1.47 with 3.3% over vid

I see 1.53v with 5% over vid...seems to big of a jump

I see 1.57v with 8.3% over vid...if this was the case then 5% should have been closer to 1.5v

I see 1.63-1.64 with 10% over vid....again to big of a jump for 1.7% increase..should be closer to 1.6v

I don't want the vocre over 1.6v and the heat to cross 55c...i will be getting a new cooler so I think I can achiev that nearly with 1.63-1.64v but again I dont like the vcore...

3.3% also seems to being fiugured from 1.5v and not 1.4v which sahould be default vcore. 3.3% of 1.4 shuld be 1.45vcore but with this board it undervolts .04-.06v...It is more like 3.3% of 1.5v then board undervolting....

---------1.4 default-------------1.5 default

3.3%-------1.45v------------------1.55v----------1.47v actual so it appers to be undervolting 1.5v default

5.0%-------1.47v------------------1.575v---------1.53v actual...not as much undervolting here..hmmmm!!!

8.3%-------1.52v------------------1.625v---------1.57v actual...seems like avrerage undervolting of board

10.%-------1.54v------------------1.65v-----------1.63-1.64v...deosne't seem mathematically correct as now there is nmo undervolting happening...

I need 1.6v actual and I bet this thing is stable 6-12 hours in prime testing....

Well, you've kinda answered your own question. You already know what to do, you identified all your problems, and know what the probable solution is. I really don't think I can help. And thats a great OC.

Actually since I dont have a floppy hat can readily flash right now I am wondering from users of bioses greater then 1.37mod to tell me if anyone has vcore adjustments in the manual section greater then 1.55v...

What makes you think it has anything to do with it??? If anything this board is goofy...the vcore actually goes up .01 to .02 while loading....The percebtages as I have shown are anything then consistent and I see no patteren of a faliling power supply...

STOCK HS + 80mm Delta screamer + 8.3% = 2700?

Or just remove IHS? (never mind that...forget retension bracket will no longer allow HS make contact with die)

dude, stop carrying on in all these threads about your blasted overclock 😕 than flaming anyone who makes you feel like you are not 'the man' with your unstable 2.7. If you want a blasted high oc, go by an fx-55 like everyone else who wants a mad oc and enjoy 3.0ghz. Otherwise stop carrying on and asking for advice than flaming everyone who makes suggestions. kk thnx.

Who the heck am I flamnig..I asked him to give me his reason for this..Thugs and i are friends and I am just wondernig what he is thinking....

I really want MSI board users to reply to tell me any secrets or thought (tweaks they may have in mind)...I really think you need to move on..not helpful...

My threads may help other msi users...

I'm sure this stuff will help other MSI users. I wish someone was doing similar stuff with my Soltek K8AN2E-GR... 🙁

I am glad that most people who don't appreciate the content of a thread just dust their feet off and go on... if your like me and not interested in a post you just don't open it up.. but of course you have your exceptions

thanks for the post duvie...

sometimes even a good PSU isnt the right choice for certain combo.
its always a good idea to at least try another PSU, even if its just to rule it out 😉

i can tell you my Emax550W (2yo) is being pushed to the max since my new vid card :Q
ill be getting a new case and dual PSUs after the new years 😀

🙂

2700 Mhz, thats about ..... 4200/4300+ ?

It looks like the next bump is the 4200+ which should run at 2.6 Ghz with 1 Meg Cache, just like the FX 55...But on a 90 nm process......Funny that hay...

Well done Duive, you have come along way !

What is your 12v voltage actually reading, if it is below 12, up it through the pot on your psu, that may correct any voltage droops

Nice brand btw. 45a on 12v, cmon thats way too much on one line. I'd be more impress with like 3-4 separate 12v rails of 20A. That would be worth the $300.

ttt

Howz it going duvie?

Should I get this board? tell me about it I can't go past 240 with gigabyte...
But $140 and MSI..is teh scared.
