So Chrome has ads now

Uh, that's the start page. Who gives a shit what they put on the start page (or their own websites like gmail, etc)?

Haven't seen a single ad on any non-google site in chrome that wasn't supposed to be there.

That's not the first time they've done that. I seem to remember when the Cr-48 was coming out, they would put a link in the same place asking people to sign up to be considered to receive one (and I did, but I never got one 😛).

an ad is something obtrusive. putting a link to their other projects and/or store on a page that can be assigned to do something else is anything but obtrusive. calling it the beginning of the end is a bit like announcing the sky is falling.

My Chrome says it's up to date and I'm not seeing the ads. I use Chrome as my default browser on all my computers and sit in front of a computer all day...

Are they seriously referring to that Chromebook ad at the top? Really? That's Google with a 6 six word sentence promoting it's own product - an ad in the loosest sense of the word.

Once we see ads for HP laptops up there then they'll have a point.

Solution is simple, Install FireFox FTW, a real browser with add-ons that enhance your browsing experience!

I use FF with the Ad-Block Plus add-on and I never EVER see any ads

Except there's no problem to solve and I use Chrome with Adblock Plus and also never see ads.
