So. Cal Fry's had the Que 24X10X40 burner for $90 without any rebate...for those of you who don't like MIR...This might be a good deal......for those of you who bought this drive with your amex blue....you might beable to PM it.....(depends on when you bought it....).....

Here is a link to scan of the Fry's ads, just scroll down on the left side, and click on the last Fry's link to see the CD-R
They also have an APC 500VA Batt. Backup for $30 after a $25 MIR
Also, there is an Iomega External 4x4x6 CDRW for $99

riznick: those Fry's ads are scans from the OC Register, if you have the LA Times, it might be slightly different...

Does anyone know about the quality of the drive though? It seems to me that I see a lot of people in the return line at Fry's with Que drives.

I just bought this at Fry's at the Dallas location. I have yet to install it as I just bought it. It comes with Nero 5 btw!!!!!

I need to look up on the quality of this drive though. I thought I read somewhere that this had burn-proof of some sort. It may even be a Plextor rebadged. We need find out though because this is so cheap and there is no mail-in rebates BS!!!

did anyone go for this deal? anyone know how to tell what drive mechanism does qps use in this drive? my bro picked one up from frys, but he couldn't figure out which drive mechanism it contains. i've read that it could possiblly be sanyo, tdk, or plextor, and i think there are different ones used by qps. any ideas?

The ones from Compusa were Sanyos. Sanyo has the emergency eject hole on the far left - opposite the eject button. Excellent drives.

For those who has a rebaged Sanyo BP1500P CDRW Drive (some QPS Que 24x & TDK VeloCD 24x) there is a new firmware Version 6.38 available.

The 6.38 firmware is supposed to (quote from the Sanyo website):
-Improvement of read performance
-24x media support CMC,ACER,RITEK,PRODISC,GIGASTORAGE

Link to Firmware and Flash Tool

I've flashed my QPS 24X with no problems.
