So bizarre, my BIOS post time just got randomly way longer

Up until about a week ago my PC would boot very normally - a couple seconds to get to the mobo splash screen then a few more seconds and Windows would get going. Then all of a sudden like with no hardware/software changes that I can think of my mobo splash screen just stays there for over a minute or longer before going to windows.

I looked at my bios post code and it seems to hang up on 'detecting IDE drives' when it's just sitting there. All my parts are basically brand new, built this PC about a month ago. Thoughts?

If it's having trouble detecting your drives, it's probably a drive starting to fail.

Replace cables first, if that doesn't work, hope it's your optical drive. ($$$)

Unplu all the drives, see if it posts, then reconnect them one at a time. You'll find the culprit.

That said, there have been complaints about the 950s "spin up" times.

I've seen this caused by some USB devices left plugged in. Before assuming your hard drive is failing, unplug all peripherals and see if that helps.
