so BFG sent me a new video card...

the old one overheated only if you gamed on it for a little while. This new one has some severe issues. When I plugged it in I had lines all over my screen, even in safe mode. The only way I can get the thing to work is to have my box on its side, with the video card not screwed in, and I have to bump it a few times to get the alignment right.

This sucks. I just bought a new mobo and more ram and I cant enjoy them because my video card is being a pest.

Thought you guys might enjoy this. This is the only way I can keep my stuff from crashing.

UPDATE PT 3
I just got done installing the new card they sent me. Keep in mind that I paid ~$130 for this card. God love BFG.

check out the link in my sig. it links to some other boards where people hate the 6600 cards.

isn't it more of an issue w/ the XFX cards?

Try using another psu.. may or may not help, but you have to isolate the problem first

6600 rquires a molex connector in addition to the agp rail, correct? Even if the power supply that came with the case was less than stellar, it should still work at stock speeds and voltages. You could even check in the bios (with another video card) to see how stable the voltage rails are from the power supply. IMO, thers more to the whole problems [and to worry] about than having a 'quality' psu; something is definately up with the card.

its a 5900 card. Sorry for the delay in replying, I tried setting my resolution higher than 800x600 and my computer rebooted.

Its the video card. I plan on upgrading the power supply soon, but I highly doubt its the PS

hmm in that case, return it again. hehe, it really looks like the card's problem. I suppose you can test out the card on another pc before you sent it in again though...

they already are sending me a new card. BFG really is great about these things. They are sending me a new card with a prepaid shipping label for my old one so I won't be out of a card again. They did this without me even asking.

This wasn't meant to be a "help me fix my puter" thread, just a rant.
