Why the heck should we?! ,I've got better things to spend my money😛 ,anyway I don't mind putting up with moderatly slow forums but I hate those damn popup adds:| ,and yes I have used a popup stopper ,it stops the PM's too

Yes, I had other IE windows open, but they were also on the subscriber server, just browsing other threads.🙂
Yeah, the things like the infamous Tigerdirect thread; there was another one, which is gone now - something advertising some DSL service. The title was "free X-Box" - if you buy a certain amount of time with the service. Something like that anyway. Seemed like an ad to me though.

Stickys like the tiger direct one that are nothing more than a paid for thread for advertising. My susbscription expired yesterday and I seriously considered not renewing it. Subscribers were promised no banner ads but they found a way to weasel in an ad without calling it a banner ad. Trick me once shame on you trick me twice shame on me.
from the subscribers service agreement. Doesn't say anything about using a thread topic as a pseudo banner ad and sticking it to the top so all the paid subscribers will see it. I think it violates the spirit of the subscriber agreement although I admit it doesn't violate the literal terms of the agreement. As a result I will only renew my subscription for 3 months at this time to evaluate the new chat feature when it becomes available.

Definately an anandtech, and definately a popup. Notice that it says ananadtech there, and popup at the end? That link is from the ad on one of the forums page, in this case it was at the bottom.

Looks like realmedia needs to be screamed at a bit. Keep in mind that anand is probably NOT getting paid for popup ads, only banners. So its not only a violation of whatever agreements they have, they are probably cheating him out of money too.
Anyway, I'm totally against popups and I applaud anand for keeping this place as clean as it has been. Hopefully he will address this quickly.

wow, that thing is awesome. It's incredible. Removes all ads from AT and other sites. And keeps popups from occurring.
It works by stripping the HTML of all ad-type stuff before your browser ever sees it. You configure it as a localhost proxy server. It WORKS!
hmmm I doubt that you'll be disciplined or have your post edited, but there was no need to be a jerk about it.
