They always seem to be a bit more responsive during the weekends, and every day in the late night/early morning hours. On weekdays during daytime hours though they can be horrendously slow, to the point where some threads never load unless I mash F5 a couple times.

It has been raised, not eliminated. The subscriber servers are still significantly quicker, plus the raised PM limits + no ads makes it a worthwhile investment.

Mine ran out last night, I renewed within a half hour.

Precisely.

Businesses exist to make money, if a portion of the business is losing money like a plus size strip club then it gets eliminated.
