Ever since finally getting broadband, I have been playing online games to see what I like. I had been playing coutnerstrike: source, then my friend let me borrow Battlefield 1942 (which I never played).

WOW, that game is awesome. He even showed me the desert combat mod which is also cool.

Basically I am interested if anyone has played the new battlefield game, and how good is it? I can get it for around 20 bucks off half.com.

I like it since it adds variety to my BF1942 addiction 😀 If you're going to get it make sure to download couple new mods: WWII mod (basically a collection of Pacific maps from BF1942 but with enhanced graphics and sound, and Point of Existence (Modern day US vs Russia mod).

I love BF:V I think it's worth it for $20. Just be sure to practice flying in single player before playing online! 🙂

Thats one area I stink at in bf1942, its hard flying the planes. I like being a tail gunner alot better.

And dont get me started on how impossible the helicopters in desert combat are to fly.....

Big fan of the tanks in BF:V..... and yes, the soundtrack is wonderful. Did you get it yet?!?!?

I ordered it yesterday off of half.com, $20.50 after shipping.

I was having a ton of fun playing the axis in wake island yesterday, on a server with hardly any lag and 50 people

I was a huge BF42 addict. Played almost every day for the first year.
I thought BFV was a bit of a let down. It was fun, but after a while, I ended up going back to 1942 and DC. I just didn't like the look of it or the gameplay as much as the original. I'm a huge fan of the planes in 1942, and in BFV, the planes are just too fast. It seemed like by the time I spotted a target on the ground, it was too late and I had already gone past it. Maybe it is the speed or maybe it's just that the jungle environment makes it too hard to spot the targets. Or maybe it's because I have to run on lower graphics settings in BFV. It definitely runs worse than 1942 on my XP1700 / GF3 Ti200 machine.

If you have a good machine, I would say it's worth the $20. I was only dissappointed in it when comparing to the original.

I'm really looking forward to BF2, but I'm definitely going to need an upgrade first.
