So i havent been able to get even a ballpark date on when this is supposed to happen, nor have i been able to find any conclusive information on the MSI-GD80 P55 which supposedly has the hydra 100 chip on it, or even a good multigpu roundup on the EVGA P55 FTW which has NF200 for 2x 16 lane between the cards (though only 8x to the CPU), not to mention the OC results on the 860 arent exactly what i had in mind, considering this would be an upgrade over my Q9650 purely for PCI-e bandwidth. i live within 15 miles of a microcenter, and the frys i work at will also price match, so im trying to decide if i should delay spending on my water loop for a week to get a 920 to sit on until i have my Xfire cards good to go

Given that Intel has not actually EOL'ed the 920, or even given an EOL timeline for the 920, and the fact that when a cpu is EOL'ed it is usually done so with at least a two business quarter (6 months) leadtime I'd say you are safe to assume you'll still be able to buy 920's come March next year.

As for the other concerns, I'm somewhat baffled why you'd be jumping the gun to spend money on parts for a rig when you are seemingly lacking the very information you want to have so as to ensure you are buying the right parts...why not wait another month or two and let the reviews come out so you know for sure the hardware exists and functions as you need it too?

yea i was just concerned that by the time i had that info i might not be able to get a 920 anymore. i figured worst case i just sell the CPU for the $200 i paid on craigslist as new in box to someone else who didnt get their hands on one when they were out. i will just wait though. i dont plan on getting both 5870s (5870x2 +5870) on launch date, so my current rig will be fine to start

I remember that microcenter had the 920 at $199.
I hear that intel will drop prices for some models and introduce Core i7-960 at $562 on October 18.
I think it will leave the 920 at 284$ and maybe introduce at this price a higher clocked model. (so essentially there will be no reason to buy a 920...)
Is microcenter going to offer the higher GHz model at $199? (i doubt, but you decide...)

i hope amd can come out with a new core and give intel some competition on the high end, intel is able to charge anything it likes on the 200+ range. i think by the look of things the 920 will be around for a while, no competition there.
