The klan leader, Samuel Bowers was serving a life sentence from a 1998 trial for the 1966 death of civil rights advocate Vernon Dahmer.

Here's an astute observation from Bowers widow:

"He was supposed to stay there until he died. I guess he fulfilled that," Ellie Dahmer, Mr Dahmer?s widow, said in response to the death. "He lived a lot longer than Vernon Dahmer did."

Reading that made me want to puke. I never imagined an instance where I wouldn't mind punching an old lady in the face. That time may have come. The blind hatred, carried on to this day is just sickening.

It certainly makes me proud to see the Confederate flag flying over southern state capitols. It just shows how much we have really changed.

:roll:

Yes, here in the south, we are all running around and hanging blacks, going to segregated schools, and not letting them into white restaurants.

according to the article the quote is from Dahmer's widow not Bower's widow.

Am I missing something ?

Thank God for Federal civil rights laws.

So, you want to punch the poor (black) widow in the face? The one's whose husband was murdered by the KKK?

Reading comprehension FTW !!

I'll help:

Dahmers = murdered black guy
Bowers = KKK leader/convivted murderer

Confederate flag is a symbol of a state, and people's right to succeed from a central government they no longer believe in. Fitting around here, I would assume.

Don?t tell me you think Lincoln fought to free the slaves, and that was the purpose of the war? It was to oppress state?s rights of liberty, as one of the final checks and balances against a central government that one does not agree with. That check and balance was destroyed during those years.

That was the victim?s widow speaking, I can see why she says that and that scar is her burden to bear. You do not need to join her in self torment.

Yeah, and you know, I'd admire what the South did a lot more if they had done it for some reason OTHER than the fact that they wanted the "freedom" to keep other human beings as slaves. I don't think for a second that Lincoln really cared about the slaves, and it certainly WAS a "state's rights" issue, but the south does not hold the high moral ground here...they wanted their "state's rights" to do something nobody should have any right to do. The Confederate flag is a symbol of hatred and injustice, don't try to dress up history with that state's rights bullshit. It COULD have been a war with the south holding the moral high ground against an overreaching government, similar to the Revolutionary War, but it wasn't, because the South wasn't looking for freedom to better mankind, they were looking for "freedom", selectively applied only to white, male landowners, to own black people and force them to work without pay. Gee, how liberty loving of them. Sorry, but I have a hard time sympathizing with people being "oppressed" if they were also oppressing other people.

Now I'm not saying that the confederate flag means that to everyone who still flies it, but I also think they need to think a little harder about just what message they are sending. Maybe it symbolizes individuality and rebellion (although I wonder why it's mostly southern Republicans who fly it then...) to some people, but it also symbolizes hatred and war. You can't escape it no matter how much historical whitewashing you try and do.

You mean you don't think the driver of every mud-streaked and lifted Chevy Pickup flying an 8 foot stars and bars in the back has states' rights as their first concern!? puhhleeease

This thread is about my illiteracy, not the motivations and merits of The War of Northern Aggression 😉 kthanks.

Fair enough, perhaps the confederate flag could be a symbol of your illiteracy? 😀

I don't want the association. I would rather make myself a flag that says "my name is Ryan" with a big backwards R toys 'r us style.

The point is---Bower died in jail---the injustice was that he did not spend many more years in jail---the evidence was there all along---and it was not used
soon enough?

Nothing will bring Vernon Dahmer back----but when Bower lived in freedom for 34 years---it send the wrong message to any like Bower.---who should have been arrested and convicted in 1966----and should have spent every minute of that time in jail.

But in the grand scheme of things----Dahmer died a hero's death---and Bower died in disgrace---and Dahmer's widow has every right to comment that justice delayed was justice denied.

Just consider the source and ignore it.

People with hate, many times, just can not get over their own hate. It corrupts their soul. It is kind of like hating Bush because he is a Republican. Same thing.
