every time open up aim, the stupid aim ad window pops up, even though it's disabled in the preferences. i've tried dead aim and that's no help, and screw trillian. blah. aol = the stupidz0r!!!!

yep, same thing happens to me. luckly I only use it for direct connect.

Trillian 3 is comming out soon though and the direct connect has been fixed. Can't wait.

Yeah, I hate the new banners that pop up ads out of nowhere. I hope they go bankrupt. I miss the good old days of ICQ, but no one ever used it not to mention AIM owns it too now.

I tried GAIM once. It was a PITA. The font size in GAIM comes out teeny tiny in AIM and normal in GAIM and vice versa.

You know, you can now use ICQ to talk to people on AIM and vice versa...

Also worth noting is that you can add their ad server to your list of restricted sites and you won't see them.

Actually, the ads don't pop up out of nowhere, they're triggered by FSCKING MOUSEOVERS!!!!

A quick edit to the HOSTS file on teh routar killed that bull for all eternity.

Please, do explain how you did it.

I had that same problem with the new AIM... it eventually stopped. I don't know what happened, but it was disabled and it eventually just stopped popping up.

However, what does piss me off is that on one of the ads that AIM has, if you move the cursor over the ad, the ad becomes a pop-up and will pop a screen up... regardless of wether or not you clicked on the ad.

same thing is happening to me. In the older versions of aim it wasn't a problem. I've disabled the aim popup at the beginning in the preferences but it still comes up sometimes.
