I prefer big four doors, but this coupe seems like a good value and it's not a sluggish pig. Probably not driven buy lead foot punks either.
Excellent suggestion. I loved the Aurora but it took premium gasoline and had problems come up and it was an arm and a leg to fix. Everyone on here raves about Camry/Maxima/Accord/Civic so I thought I might get on the bandwagon and take advantage of the smaller gas tanks that don't take premium. I would get the biggest engine possible. I like some power.
FWIW, I love my Mark VIII. It will get about 26mpg on the freeway too. If you liked the Aurora, the Mark will be right up your alley. Only caveat is the air suspension, which is no trouble if the car's been taken care of, but otherwise it can be costly fix. There are companies out there though that offer retrofit kits that eliminate the air suspension; you lose the auto-leveling, but it's much less expensive and I've heard that it tightens up the handling a bit as well.

i think you better proofread that list again. i thought you were going mark VIII vs. maxima.

Ummm

The Mark uses an electric radiator fan. Because of the way the 4.6 had to be set in the chassis (Thunderbird chassis, originally designed for nothing larger than a V6) the engine is too low for the usual belt-driven fan to be in the right place to pull air through the radiator.

Also, with independant rear suspension the rear half-shafts do use CV joints. To be fair, CV joints in rear suspension rarely have any problems since they don;t get nearly the stress of the CVs in a front drive car.

Thanks, I really fuxored that up!

The Mark uses an electric radiator fan.

I could live with the air suspension, but a cramped engine bay is the pits. Fvck it stuman, buy an old Town Car instead! :p

What kind of car do you guys think I should get? I was thinking like a Honda Accord or Toyota Camery or Nissan Maxima 1998 or older. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for reading,
Stu

It's not so much cramped as it is that the engine is low in the chassis so the typical mount point for the fan is too low for the radiator. Engine bay isn't so bad once you get that damn plastic trim cover off.

As long as you can get at the plugs, and sending units, that's cool.

I had to help my dad replace the alternator in his minivan. What a damn hassle! It's so easy when the engine isn't sideways! :|

That's because they either take the anti-GM/Ford Consumer Reports as gospel or they're living in the 1980s.

Hopefully, living with the shame of what he did will be a greater punishment. That, and the insurance premium hike he'll be getting.

Or maybe not.

Shame? He killed a car, not a person. I doubt he'll think twice about it. He'll drive drunk again.

Hmm Edmunds says your car is worth $2786 private party. From what I understand this is what the insurance company would pay for a totalled car. It's iffy how much it'll cost to fix but they may not total it. I thinkey the probably will though. When some guy decided he wanted to be in the same lane where I was it was $1100 just to replace the side panel and refinish the bumper. :(

Same thing happened to my late mitsubishi. The guy never paid up and I wasn't about to spend the money to bring him to court.
It was my backup car sitting parked on the street, I didn't have much use for it.

A little duct tape'll fix that right up.

And that's why I don't park overnight on the street :p

They're definitely going to total it out. I was hit on the passenger side rear corner and while my trunk wasn't directly hit, the floor of the car in that back area was also crumpled. I'm guessing that yours was also. They're going to give you NADA value. Forget KBB. Make sure that you declare every option you had on the car. sigh, I'm still looking for a car to replace my SC400 :'(

What type of car are you looking for? Highway cruiser? How about mpg? Do you care about having power? That sucks about your car.

And you think that's a 40mph collision? That's a hell of a lot closer to 4mph. It damn well wasn't over 10.
Second pic, frame damage. It's at least 20 mph. 5 mph wouldn't have done anything but leave small dents in the bumper.

the maxima is timing chain also, not belt. This is hardly a FWD vs RWD issue anyways.
