So a drunk driver hit my parked car last night going 40mph

The police came and he was stumbling around and could barely walk due to alcohol. My beautiful 1996 Olds Aurora is smashed to hell. I'm afraid the insurance company will total it :(. What kind of car do you guys think I should get? I was thinking like a Honda Accord or Toyota Camery or Nissan Maxima 1998 or older. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for reading,
Stu

I'm a poor college student without a digi camera. When I get over to Wally World today (if I find a ride) i'll pick up disposable and get some.

I enjoyed the car. Very nice ride.

It's a shame that the drunk driver actually lived.

Hopefully, living with the shame of what he did will be a greater punishment. That, and the insurance premium hike he'll be getting.

Or maybe not.

Why would you not buy the exact same car?

I prefer big four doors, but this coupe seems like a good value and it's not a sluggish pig. Probably not driven buy lead foot punks either.

Shame? He killed a car, not a person. I doubt he'll think twice about it. He'll drive drunk again.

Excellent suggestion. I loved the Aurora but it took premium gasoline and had problems come up and it was an arm and a leg to fix. Everyone on here raves about Camry/Maxima/Accord/Civic so I thought I might get on the bandwagon and take advantage of the smaller gas tanks that don't take premium. I would get the biggest engine possible. I like some power.

I'd go with a 4th gen Maxima for sure... 97-99 are my favorite years for the Maxima.... SE of course.

Sadly, that's probably true. OP: what state are you in?

A lot of the expense comes from being FWD. The Mark VIII is RWD and has a small V8, which isn't too bad on gas. If the reliability is anything like my '94 Town Car, it's a winner!

We have a 1998 Mark VIII. Lots of power, 24mpg highway. Does require premium gas tho, but at 6 cents per gallon, we're talking $1.08 per fill up - no big deal.
