I saw it, and my only real disappointment was how the Leonidas died. I would much have preffered the recorded way, where he fell in the midst of battle and the remaining spartans formed a circle around his corpse until they each died one by one. I thought it would have been even more dramatic or effective.

Good movie.

Just got back from seeing it. Awesome movie... probably the best I've seen in a while.

I really don't see the appeal to this movie, the medieval battle movies are overdone, and this one is behind the trend. I'd never go see a movie purely for the battle sequences. I've seen the trailers, and the dialogue is cheesy at best. *shrug* I liked Troy, and the Lord of the Rings movies, but this movie just seems saturated in battle scenes and starved in plot.

Of course I haven't seen it yet and my opinion should not be taken too seriously, but these are just my preconceptions. You can only listen to the clanking of swords and the tearing of sinew for so long before you lose interest.

Just got back from the movie. Awesome effects, great action, and even a couple comedic elements that had the crowd cracking up. I really, really enjoyed this movie. As usual, the critics were wrong.

I might see this, not sure. I'm actually more interested in one of the trailers before the film.

Yea, best comedic moment was when Leonidas was talking about being civil while eating an apple, as his soldiers were killing the wounded Persians.

Absolutely f*cking awesome movie :D

I saw it @ the 6.40pm showing in what is a normally quiet theatre. Was very busy & full though :)

I completely loved the movie...was pretty much like "wow!" for a lot of the scenes :)

Insane battle scenes, sexy women, gorgeous film style. Loved it.

I certainly took notice of that as well.

And the blood? How is it that no matter WHICH direction the sword/spear/arrow/shield/fist/etc was traveling, upon impact w/ the foe, the blood (CGI "blood") spattered TOWARD the screen.

I almost figured out how they were making the sound for a minute, I think I heard that blood spatter sound like 600 times...interestingly enough, it was the same one everytime! ;)

but overall, yeah, lots of stabbing and killing and testosterone ;) great flick for battlescenes ;)

Don't judge a book by its cover. Go see it or SHUT UP.

did anyone else feel that the sex scene was laughably epic?
it was like a slo-mo attention to the woman gasping.

the movie was awesome. it was exactly what i expected: more stylistic violence than plot.

Q to those who saw the movie (no spoiler here): Did the entire theater applaud at one point? Because we sure did :)

Saw it earlier... enjoyed it a lot. The fight scenes were excellent and the nipple shots (female) were a nice bonus.

BTW, Spartan captains wore a bronze breastplate (over a lamellar chestpiece, I think..) and normal soldiers wore a lamellar chestpiece. Their shields weren't all bronze either, they were wood with a layer of bronze coating it.

No, equipment was not given out based on rank, because technically, except for the King, nobody had a rank at this point in time. Bronze breastplates were left overs, the normal armament was a stiffened Linen semi shirt with bronze scales sewn onto the abdomen area as well as the opposite back of the abdomen. Bronze cuirases were from the era, but a little earlier, and were outdated do to expense and mobility.

Then the history channel (or military channel? ..forgot which) lied to me last night. :(

I feel used.
Well I mean, it depends. I might be wrong too. Neither I, nor the H channel has actually been there. Rank was given out temporarily in Athens, and in Sparta, it pretty much didn't exist. The officer Corps was there to keep people in line, sorta like drill seargents, and thats about it. Thats the amazing thing about Greek Warfare. They were so disciplined and so skilled, and the tactics they devised so indecisive, they didn't need an officer corps.

I've read that they wanted to use the blood splatter to portray paint, as if the battles were a work of art, or something like that.

I love how IMDB's special voting system has this movie at 8.4, when it's actually at 9.1 mathematically.

Go see this movie people :D

I LOVED the movie. Definitely worth the money.

Everyone in the audience in my theatre clapped when the Queen killed that guy who she slept with (forget his name).

I thought it was very well done, and it even had some funny parts in it :)

I also loved the ending.... 10,000 spartans!! I would have loved to see that battle.
